Thank you Danny. That’s the first time I’ve ever seen Pat in the flesh. Only in pictures and writings. He was very impressive.
Thanks for sharing. Here's a pic of Pat doing a book signing for Lost Hot Rods at Auto Books & Aero Books in Burbank ,Ca and another pic of Pat, at my house doing a photo shoot for Lost Hot Rods with my Merc. Iwas glad to meet him and honored he shot my Merc for the book.RIP Pat.
Can there be anybody to take over the archives and carry forward? I would think that Pat and Anna have had discussions about that. For those of us that were on his email list, without his commentaries, the pics are just that.
Thanks for the videos Danny! I just checked Pat's web site a few minutes ago. I noticed for the first time of really looking at this art work. It says dedicated to integrity..... He certainly had that. This guy did this column just because he loved this thing we do so much that he just had to share it. What a guy, what a loss..... I am thankful for all he shared and saddened that we will not be able to look forward to his column anymore. RIP Pat.
Thanks for posting Danny. Haven’t seen these in a while. I have been thinking about Pat’s archives, and how Anna and Bill might choose to preserve them. The name that comes to mind is Leno - although not a person that is at first thought of as a Rod & Custom guy, he is passionate about automotive history. And might have the space and resources to help preserve the history, and possibly digitize it for the future. Pat often referred to taped interviews he had done over the years with people now long gone from the history of Hot Rodding. I know I would love to listen to those voices. I’m sure I’m not alone.
Thanks for posting this video, it shows that he was at home in front of the camera as well as behind. His laugh at the end sent a chill up my back, as I heard it so many times, along with the smile that accompanied it.
That's Pat, alright. 1993 Americruise in Springfield, Mo. I clicked a photo of Pat trying to explain to a guy his 59 caddy sled wasn't "quality enough" to be in the magazine. When we talked about it on the phone, years later, he said it was always tough for him to do that. I'll really miss Pat.
