Sure, but you will need something to hold a GM speedometer drive gear where it normally does not go. A guy on eBay has them.
How about the same exchange, only onto a World cl*** T5? I have a WC for my '27 Hiboy roadster. Need the shift stick to move forward.
I don't think that the WC part has anything to do with the shift tower/tail shaft. There is the speedometer drive thing that Gimpy mentioned.
Thanks, @Mr48chev. I recall the plastic speedo gear in tailshaft housing clearly: The gear was secured by snap ring(s), and kept from revolving by a .187" steel ball, seated in the shaft. Hard as that shaft is, retro fitting a slot and ball seat might take some doing... My lathe with a cutoff wheel attachment, and a shaped center boring stone?
I put a S10 tail housing on a WC Ford T5. As I remember I had to do some machining to the tail housing to make it fit. I don't remember the details but I had to use a boring and facing head to bore where the bottom gear sits.
Two-screw split locking collar, slot cut in the ID, clip. https://www.ebay.com/itm/2217827726...hevOqQ9Txm&var=&widget_ver=artemi***edia=COPY
If you do need a "frikin" mechanical speedo be sure to get the early model S10 rear housing ***embly. The later model S10 electronic speedo type housings are different and won't work with a cable. Though someone on here offers reworked versions to accept the cable type fitting.
I know this has been asked before, but what is the last year for S10 rear housing with mechanical speedo?
FlatErnie had an article that said you can use an AC ferrule, locate it on the shaft, and glue it in place. My 32 coupe build thread has the explanation somewhere …… I used the ferrule trick for the 88-93 cobra 5-speed and it works great. For the S10 tail shaft to Ford 5-speed swap you will need a donor S10 5-speed for the top piece, shifter shaft, and some other bits beyond just the S10 tail shaft. Again, that was in my build thread and the flaternie article he had. You might be able to google that swap as well ……
1993, but be aware that there was a digital dashboard package for the S trucks that was around before that. It was not overly common, but T5s from those are electronic drive.
