Weird key

I recently found this weird key in a box I believe it to be automotive maybe a promotional kind of car key it has a shell on it on one side the other side is the letter s very ornate looking any information would be great I have no idea what this key goes to.

 

Just taking a stab in the dark here, but possibly a Shell Oil promotion?

 

That's what I was thinking but he does look automotive the actual cuts in the key look like they go to a car

 

Looks gm. also the initial of the buyer.

 

My grandfather captained Shell oil tankers from the 40's to the 60's, that shell looks exactly like the pins and other paraphernalia he received during his service.

 

GM D key probably from the early 80s I have one like it for my old Chevelle.

My bet would be Ford im a retired locksmith smith.
