A little background on my 1926 model t truck. It is a Frankenstein truck. The motor and transmission are out of a 1970 vintage Datsun 510. The car is rewired for 12 volt. I have a battery located under the car on the p***enger side but it has no battery hold down. Any ideas on how or what can I use. The battery tray has tow bolts on opposite corner but no frame to hold the battery in place.
    Thanks

Pictures would be a big help, for us to help you. but generally, just start welding/bolting metal to what's there, until the battery is secure.

I'd use baling wire before bungee cord....

Bailing wire will conduct electricity and cause a fire and explosion at the battery. I’ll stick with the bungee cord. It will not conduct electricity. Squirrel I’m surprised, you should know better! Shame on you, now I question everything you have ever said.

The bungee cord will let the battery fly around and short out, too. If you put the baling wire where it's not close to the terminals, it'll be fine.

    Look up "modulus of elasticity"

image.jpg Is there clearance under the box as it sits? If so something like this. If not full clearance then short pieces instead of full length of flat stock

I was thinking of using battery tray out of nova. Bolt that to the plate that’s on my 26 and then use a Chevy battery hold down. My 26 was built in Southern California by a friends dad. He p***ed away and the truck sat for 20 plus years. They asked if I wanted it. I said yes because I didn’t want them to crush it.
    Thanks

I used a later GM battery tray as well. Trimmed off what I didn't need. Love the simple down low hold down.

    Example

Maybe someone that can't figure out a battery holder shouldn't be hanging around old vehicles unless they are new to getting skinned knuckles.

Not everyone has done it since birth;)

I’d prefer he ask the question and secure it, than see him heading down the road dragging it.

Under my battery, I placed a piece of plywood. In keeping with the T era I could see a piece on top with appropriate cutouts, by jig saw.

However real wood was thing in the day. just sayin

Nothing wrong with the well-thought-through use of baling wire.

(nods respectfully to our Kiwi brethren, who are renowned for the Number 8 solution: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Number_8_wire).

    Cheers,
