Projects Pacific Quick Change - Model A style

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by Y8er, Aug 31, 2022.

  1. Has anyone ordered or installed one of the Pacific Quick Change - Model A style center sections? Originally known as Kiwi Quick Change, with new Australian ownership now known as Pacific Quick Change. They build reproductions based on the Halibrand 101 (Model A) and 201 (V8). Nice web site with quick and detailed quote and tech support.

Not the Model A one, but I just got a V8/201 unit for a customer.

Everything looks good, and measured out correctly.

I'm just chasing down a few parts, as the axle that it is being fit to is not in as good a shape as previously though.

Never got a quote without shipping.

Going to pick it up was not an option that I considered.

I think @troylee bought one recently. He might catch this thread.

  10. Thanks for the assessment. I think I'm going to make a run at the 101 (Model A) style.

As a follow up, the 201 V8 style one that I got for a customer was delivered well-crated.

It is precisely made, went together as easily as these things generally do.

The car is on the road, and there have been zero issues.

I have no reason to believe that the Model A version will not be exactly the same quality.

10/10 would recommend to a friend.

    Happy to help!

I like to make a point of giving positive feedback on companies that are getting things right, be that product, customer service, or both.

I want them to serve as an example to companies that don't.

Everyone complains when something went wrong, that does not always help.

Knowing where it's good to spend your hard-earned cash, in-advance, saves you the hassle of having to deal with a negative outcome.

If nobody gives a good review, how are you going to know? Roll the dice?

I have one, Kiwi model A, mounted in a '28 CCPU that I am working on. It was installed on the chassis when I bought the project and has all the documentation. Has not been on the road as of yet, but hopefully soon! It fits and looks great and does not leak (yet). Original axles, bells, radius rods/torque tube and hydraulic brakes.

I am currently building an A rear axle with one of these - when I emailed to enquire about buying one ,the owner of the company phoned me! I live in Scotland -UK and was very surprised indeed .I bought one and it came well crated at a killer deal .I am currently cleaning all my components and painting them while waiting on my new ring gear and pinion coming over from USA ,I have spent a fortune on bearings though as they are VERY EXPENSIVE here in the UK.If you want to see the install video I will be uploading it to my youtube channel ( not the best channel but its really just to show folks how I do stuff)
