Anybody ever do a Ford I-beam with 49-54 Chevy spindles? Whats it take to do this? I have Chevy spindles and disc brakes, but I want to use a Ford I-beam axle.
What chop&drop said. Either use a Chevy axle or one designed for Chevy, or sell the Chevy spindles and brakes and then use Ford axle with Ford spindles and brakes.
If the axle is being dropped, wouldn't it be a simple matter to change the inclination while the metal is red? Kingpin diameter difference is easily addressed with bushings.
If my quick search is giving good information, Ford is .812" and Chevy is .867". I have a 3.5" or 4" drop axle made for Chevy spindles I'd sell if you're interested. Chevy spindles modified for 9 1/4" brakes too, with adapters for M-II calipers, but the rotors and calipers need replacement. Lynn
