Projects Trying to Identify old Hot Rod - 1932 Plymouth PB

Discussion in 'Traditional Hot Rods' started by RacerRick, Sep 1, 2022.

  1. Hello, I am back after a few years of playing with non HAMB friendly cars. I recently picked up an old hot rod that looks to have been a show car in one point of its life. By the style I am guessing a build date sometime in the late 50's early to 60's, and its all done in lead.

The car in question is a 1932 Plymouth PB that was a roadster or Convertable coupe, but unfortunately there is not enough of the original car to tell which. The previous owner put on the cowl and doors from a sedan, along with the coupe roof from some other make. She's rough, but there enough unique touches that I am hoping someone out there may recognize her.

The rear fenders are molded in, and there is no sign of running boards. There is a fuel filler in a molded in platform on the drivers side, and a really distinctive spare tire treatment. The rear tail lights looks to be 49' chev at one point. There are several coats of paint on this car, including a lavender metallic, a blue metallic, and a green. Angle iron inside the car looks to be from the car being channeled at one point also.

I am trying to see if this car has some sort of cool history before I start cutting it up to replace the roof, and maybe make it a 5 window like a 33' Plymouth. If it was a *****en' show car sometime in its life, it may go back that way instead.

  2. There is no history with this car, as it died with the owner 2 owners ago. We don't know where the car came from. It was a really rough 32' PB roadster/convertible coupe body that a friend of mine threw together into a car.

Kinda looks like a '33/34 Mopar pickup cab and doors grafted to a '29 Mopar coupe. 0.70.jpg 0.71.jpg

  6. I know it's 32 plymouth pb sedan cowl and doors. I think the roof may be Hudson. I know the guy who put them onto the remains of this old hotrod.

It was originally a roadster or convertible coupe.

I love seeing these cars that were dreamed up out of desire or a lack of parts, real creativity which is Hot Rodding.

Cool project! Make it your own and don't worry about what it might have been.
Looks like it may be on a Chevy frame?
