I've been waiting for this. Glad to see you in the middle of your adventure. Are you alone?

Also glad to see you verify in person what I thought was true from looking at the photos... that this car is as you say,
    BEAUTIFUL.

    With you in spirit! :)

Thanks! I brought my wife with me and left the kids behind. Beautiful country here in Utah. DED0A587-7535-4D59-A19A-D4AC46AE6E77.jpeg 1678266E-14BF-4A69-A15E-FE19F3913EAA.jpeg AB63D0CA-04A4-41AF-93AA-F7CDFC85461D.jpeg

Great to see that Poly 318 still in there. I'm a fan of them with two in hot rods, one in a T bucket that I built in 62 and one in a 32-5 window. That is one gorgeous car, congratulations.
Hey you better clean your spare tire, it's got some dirt on it LOL

Yeah I like that it’s not highly optioned. I’m really glad it doesn’t have power windows and super stoked it stays in the family.

Glad you made it home safe with the new toy. Now, you just need to start using it for what it was intended. :D

Thanks brother. It took me 14 hrs to get there and 17 to get back. I stopped several times to check straps and to get fuel so it slowed me down. It was worth it though. Made it back with zero issues, thank God. Story is an 80 years old man owned the car and had it restored. He took it to many car shows over the years but the time came when his family put him in a old folks home so he sold the car.

perfect, love this picture of it. I always run mine without the fender skirts too, the Magnum 500 wheels look great on it.

Many of you were correct on engine. I know nothing about mopars and remember my wife’s uncle say it had a 383. It’s obviously a 318 though. We’ve been enjoying it. It’s a blast to cruise around in with the kids.

    Wide block 318.
    Sort of a "Semi Hemi".
    Working man's Hemi.
It enjoyed the benefits of a basically hemispherical combustion chamber ( resists pre ignition even with advanced timing) but with a simpler valve train less expensive to manufacture. Has potential capabilities beyond what you would likely expect from 318 cubic inches.
You won't see a lot of others. You can find multi-carb intakes.

I had a 63 Fury with a 318 and Torqueflite. I was surprised at how peppy that 318 was with just a 2 bbl. When it got over 100K miles, I sold it to a buddy. He proceeded to put another 200K on it (he was working construction and never close to home). The transmission finally died but the 318 was still running. However, it looked like you were spraying for mosquito's when you first started it.

Should be the 727 torqueflite automatic transmission and the last year for the trunnion-mount drive-shaft. 1966 was the first year for the slip yoke drive shaft.

Interesting 65 Fury III at MCACN this year. Factory 426 Street Wedge, 4 Speed Four Door car with a moonshine running history.

This was in a 65 I looked at yesterday. The exhaust manifolds are worth more than the car.

Agree, not too long ago there wasn’t much you could do with that motor. Now, you can get an Offy four barrel manifold, a Carter carb and some headers and that puppy will perform.
