What are the differences between 1934 truck and pickup cabs? Dimensions? Will dash panels or windshield frames interchange? Thanks, gary
No difference, same cab. The difference in the trucks is the frame, & running boards *& gas tank. Even the front fenders interchange except the wheelwell for the recessed spare is bigger from what I understand.
I know cabs are the same. I think some 33/34 truck cabs had in cab tanks like all 32's, but they are the same dimensionally as a pickup. The hoods and grille shells are the same as well as a pickup. I have heard the fenders being the same, but then have heard the opposite. Never have had a known truck fender next to a known pickup of the same year to truly check. I am pretty sure the headlight bar is different between truck and pickup.
My avatar has the front passenger fender from a big truck so I know they are the same. I once had a set of big truck fronts but they both had sidemounts and I didn't want to use them so I sold them. The wells looked like they would take a large tire but I never measured them.
Thanks for the replies. My truck cab has an under-the-seat tank. I don't need much for the cab, just the windshield frame, dash, and seat bottom. I have a grill, light bar, and front fenders. Frame and bed will have to be sourced.
The seat bottom for the pickup is different from the big truck. Mine had a big truck gas tank in it under the seat when I got it and I changed it to the pickup truck position at the back and had to get a bottom seat frame from a pickup to use. FYI, you can use a passenger car frame, just weld up the extra holes in the sides.
The 33 Ford pickup has a bead across the back of the cab and a fixed firewall, the '34 Ford cab as a wide band across the back of the cab as a stiffener and also has a fixed firewall. All the 34's use the same cab regardless of a passenger pickup or big truck. HRP
