I have a set of 28-48 ford spindles from Speedway and a set of Wilwood brakes for an AWB drag car. Was going to use a straight tube axle but need some drop and have access an Econoline axle. I prefer the look of the beam as well. I have searched high and low, and found a few threads related to this subject, but have a few outstanding questions I can't find an answer to. Hoping to find some help here. Doing some research online, I found the Econoline has a kingpin inclination of 7.25 deg and the speedway spindle has 9 deg. This will give 1.75 deg of positive camber correct? Should this be adjusted to slightly negative? The boss on the Econoline axle appears to be 2-1/4" vs the 2-3/8" on the earlier Ford. I ***ume this can be made up by a thicker spacer. Any special material needed here for wear? Anyone gone this route? Thanks
If this is a real race car, you are going with a much heavier axle, even if it is unsprung weight. Eliminating weight at the front was pretty big objective with those cars.
if you take the long slog through the pate and jakes cata;logue, you will note that an aftermarket axle exists specifically for econoline spindles, so it stand to reason that the kling pin incline differs
