I need help in mounting my Fulton Model 800 sunvisor on to my 1939 Ford Pickup. I am having questions about where the visor mounts on the cab of the truck. Does the dog leg visor bracket mount in door jam or above the drip rail. I really need pictures showing the mounting on a truck. Thanks
Yes it mounts in the door jamb . Vertical from the visor then a horizontal bend that goes under the drip rail and then another vertical bend that goes up against the door jamb. Sometimes the inner vertical bend breaks off either by stress or the owner. Not all dog bone mounts are going to fit flush ( because of depth of bends on cars and trucks. My mounts are shy of flush on my 1948 Ford F1, hence I am making better direct fitting one out of stainless steel with a custom design.
Thanks 41rodderz, Okay, it clearly mounts in the door jamb. Now, I need to know where. How far up from bottom edge of drip rail to lower mounting hole? This also has to keep in mind the curve of the door jamb and the curve of the dogleg mount.
Real hotrodders take those ugly POS off and throw them in the dumpsters. They aren't hot rod and they aren't custom. If lowrider magazine hadn't come into existance they would'nt exist on cars outside the hard core Lowrider Bomb areas.
The old ads always gave you the impression that they were bought by ****y, pipe smoking Dads who also hung canvas water bags on the front of the car, and had a roof rack for trunk overflow. Me..... no thanks. JMHO.... YMMV
I found mine at a swap meet for $10..couldn't p*** it up...and on the old Chevy's it really is helpful to block the sun glare, even with visors...
I actually kinda like 'em on the right vehicle. They aren't going to look right on everything for sure, but the OPs truck works for me.
I've always like them...used them on a couple of my builds...gives them sort of a chopped look. My old '39 pickup (with '36 grille) and my wife's "grocery getter" Chevy Panel.
For some reason todays style is almost a full down tilt. I’m ***uming these guys are all long haul truckers lost in their cars.
When you get it mounted and you are trying to decide whether to keep it or not, take it to the dragstrip and run it with and without the visor, your timeslip will help you decide.
This is a Fulton on my '55 PU. The person I bought it from sent factory instructions but don't remember what happened to them.
