Im putting together a blown early Chrysler hemi 331 that going in my 1955 Ford F-100. Im using the Hot Heads lower passenger side alternator bracket and want to put the power steering bracket down low on the drivers side. I thought of using the P.A.W. power steering bracket, but it looks as if they have gone out of business. Are there any other kinds of brackets I can use ( if I have to modify alot, please post pics)or does anyone have a set of P.A.W.s lying around that I could buy?
I know that for the model year 1957 Chrysler moved the P.S. pump from the back of the generator to it's own location on the front of the engine. Maybe you could use a stock '57 392 pump which did mount relatively low. Pretty sure those mounted on the driver's side. DeSoto and Dodge also changed to the front mounted pumps in '57.
Looked at the pictures of the bracket both loose and installed in the PAW catalog. Looks like it would be an easy mount to fab using the pictures as a guide. May be easier than modifying something else to fit.
Hot Heads makes a power steering bracket that does that and the instructions tell you part # of pump to get.....you have to use a remote reservoir....I have one on my Nomad, works perfect.....
I to have used the Hot heads alternator mount on lower RH (Passenger side) then used the Hot Heads PS Pump Bracket on the LH Side. Used a 95 Chevy S-10 pump and Stock S-10 reservoir. No need for a remote reservoir. I run the Forward most V-belt on the alternator using a 2 groove alternator pulley , Belt Drives in front groove only. The Rearward most V-belt drives the PS Pump. Please note : PS Bracket Solid mounts the pump ( No adjustment ) so I had to make a bracket to mount an Idler/tensioner pulley to tension the PS belt. See pictures below .
Thanks for your suggestions and help. Does anyone out there have a PAW brackat that they could trace and send to me so I could try and make one myself?
