Does anyone have any experience with Donovan's D engine? Aside from the cost, are there any issues with it? Is it reliable? Would it make a good street engine that would see plenty of highway miles.

Any idea what sort of hp it makes? I know it depends on the type of head, flathead or OHV conversion, but some idea would be helpful.

looks like a great platform to build upon. imagine a reilly or ardun topping one off.
what's one of those blocks go for?

  4. THe engine is considered nontraditional and so far isn't allowed in the Vintage or V4 cl***. It is a greatly improved version of the Ford "B" engine. The last estimate I heard was $13000 as a flat head. Of course that was a turnkey out the door built by a pro. Probably tack on another 4 or 5 grand for a decent overhead settup. But, hey, its only a hobby!!

I know a guy in California that has one, in a 28 roadster, with a OHV head on it. If you are interested in calling, I'll see if he is okay with giving out his number.

Before you spend the money (its only money) check out Terry Burtz, hes in the works with a Model A block, very stock outside but inside its a dream come true for Banger Guys. Full pressure, 5 mains, 2" main and rods bearings, strong rods, 2 rear main seals, on and on, and the price he's shooting for is $3,000.00 Has the potential of 150 hp and it all cast iron. you use your head and pan and stuff. He sends monthly updates on the progress. A lot of us are waiting. model.a.engine@hotmail.com Iceman

Send him an email, to get on his mailing list. I would imagine that this engine is still a few years away; if it is built. It is an interesting project though.
