  2. That's super cool! Started a thread about these motors last year. Amazed at how many were used, then and now. Jay Leno restoring a '67 Firebird with a Sprint engine and 4 speed!!

I have a couple Mopar 230s. Just got to figure out what to put them in. I keep kicking around the idea of putting one in my '26 Dodge Brothers.

No shortage of cool projects, in this thread. My buddy in So-Cal having a wicked/custom 250-6 built for his 1954 Belair Sled.
Really dig/respect the effort people put into running the Pontiac OHC's and Chrysler slant-six's

235 Chevy question for the more learned in the room
Giving my '53 Chevy 150 engine a going over and a good cleaning. I can't seem to make sense of the # stamped beside the distributor which reads LAA320II8.
Has anyone come across this or similar? Head casting # is 3701887.

IMG_20210128_120500235_HDR.jpg had a 250 in it first, then this 292. Drove it all over the country and drag racing afew times. Was getting tired and pulled it to freshen up . Put a small block in its place. Ended up building a new smallblock for the car. Still want to rebuild the inline and build something just for it.

My Basket Case 63 C10 Custom Cab ("Camper Special" On a C10) Long Box it has the C10's original factory goodies, they are 292 cid with HD 4 Core Radiator, (with a home made 3 on the floor Shifter & Saginaw 3 speed), Custom Deluxe Heater, Big Back Window, Comfort Two Tone Bench Seat, Custom Steering Wheel, Custom Switches, Custom Dual Locks, Custom Dual Sun Visor, Driver's Side Arm Rest, Custom Two Tone Paint, Custom Side Chrome, Custom Aluminum Grill, Chrome Front Bumper, Dealer Ordered Wrap Around HD Rear Bumper, Factory Overload Rear Helper Leaf Springs behind the Coil Springs, Some Good Ol'Boy cut out the roof for a Sunroof.
Not sure of Differential gearing yet?
Some Missouri Farmer's Pride and Joy when new in 1963, and I hope to restore it like my other 63 C10 Short Box Fleetside that has a 74 Pontiac I6 (Chevy) 250 cid and 3 on the Tree, with 3.73 gears.
I'm keeping the 292 in the 63 Long Box.
And I never did recover from losing $2000+ invested in my 327 LJ for my 63 Blue Short Box, so I'm still driving around with the I6 250 cid engine and happy that I can still get inside the Cab and drive the C10.
    God is Great...

    Nice ride Nimrod.
I used to have a '65 GMC that was also red and white, and my dad had a '60 Apache 10.
I think your truck may be a Youtube star.
    Look familiar?....

According to the guy in the video, it ended up in California, but its got that same steering wheel (which I think is out of a '59 Impala) and its also 292 powered.
Sounds like the Californian may have done some work on it, though.
I don't see the 4 core radiator or the two tone seats, but they needed work anyway.
What's really bizarre is that I just found that video last night and I just got an alert to new posts in this thread today.
    ...cue The Twilight Zone music...
Anyway, FYI in case you didn't know.

I just replaced the 243 six in my son's Anglia with a 303 ci stump puller. The 243 is going in my AA build.

Back in the early '70's our Shop Truck was a 1958 Chevy pickup, Green, 235 - 3-on-the-tree. We drove it hard, stop-light raced anything ... it was as quick as a rabbit. Just reminiscing .... I started this thread 19 years ago.
    I love straight 6 engines!

    That's a great video...
The Custom Deluxe Steering Wheel is from the Impala but GM used that same Half Chrome Horn Ring Steering Wheel design as well for Custom Deluxe Ordered C10's in 62-63-64, 1960 had no Custom Deluxe Steering Wheel option. They may have used that same Custom Deluxe Steering Wheel in 61 C10's as well but I'm not sure, other's on the HAMB most likely will know about that?
The 1965-66 C10's Used the Chevy II Nova's Steering Wheel for their Custom Deluxe Steering Wheel for the last two year's.
That 63 C10 Custom Deluxe Cab in the video is "Almost a Dead Ringer" for mine, Except for the front bumper is painted white and it doesn't have the Custom Deluxe Side Chrome Molding and that truck still has the aluminum head lite rings on the aluminum grill witch is nice, those aluminum head lite rings are one of the hardest parts to find these day's for the 63 C10 Custom Deluxe Aluminum Grill bcuz they where taken off the grill easily.
Nobody makes a 63 C10 aluminum repop head lite ring.
Only Stamped Steel Chrome Rings are repopped now for the 63 C10 grill head lites. I guess one could have those rings stripped and then powder coated to look like aluminum?
Thank you for sharing the video I really like that truck...
My 63 C10 Custom Deluxe Cab 292 engine is missing the factory Carburetor and Air Cleaner Unit and the factory mechanical fuel pump.
If any one out there in HAMB LAND has a Rochester 1 barrel Carb and factory Air Cleaner Unit for the 63 292 cid engine and a working Mechanical Fuel pump (or a working electric fuel pump) for sale please PM me with pictures and information.
    Thank You...

Thanks Larry. Back in 1976 I built a '37 Chevy Sedan, installed a Chevy 250 - 6, T400 trans, '57 Chevy rear end with 3.55 gears ... and drove the day light out of it, every day. One day I stumbled onto a Offenhauser 4-barrel intake for $40 and found a Carter 500 carb and installed them. The car was a riot from a start to 300 feet or so, surprised a lot of guys back then.

In all my years of working on vehicles, I cannot recall ever seeing that steering wheel on any truck. I had been under the assumption someone pulled it from a car and stuck it on that truck (maybe they needed it, maybe they liked the look).
Just goes to show...you never stop discovering and learning.
Wouldn't a stock air cleaner for any late model Chevy 1-bbl work for your truck?
My dad's truck had a 261 that came from a bus (the 235 threw a rod shortly after he got it) and 3-speed with overdrive.
My GMC had the 4-speed with the 7.05:1 granny first and a 305E with a 2-bbl. Stromberg on it.
I think dad's air cleaner was oil bath, mine was one of those aftermarket open element jobs, but it had to be the tiniest one they made.
If I recall correctly, I think I had to get 4" elements for it.....4" diameter, that is.
