Technical chrome plating in the New England area?

I just left a chrome plater in Lawrence M***achusetts who wanted $500 to Chrome plate two 32 Ford spreader bars and two rear leaf spring shackles. Homie don't play that - they'll get paint before I spend that much to Chrome plate those small parts.
Anybody have a line on a decent Chrome plater within driving distance of the Sea Coast of New Hampshire - that doesn't charge an arm and a leg?

New England Chrome Plating was in East Hartford CT 860-528-7176. You're right about the cost, but it's not only the cost of the plating, but the real cost is disposing of the heavy metal waste. It needs to be trucked to an approved reclamation center and it ain't cheap. Years ago they would just dump the waste material but the E.P.A. stopped that. If it makes you feel any better, I was quoted $300 for a handful of interior door handles and window cranks.

 

It seems the smaller parts cost more to plate. The local plater did my big '54 Ford bumper for $425. A pair of 3-1/2" diameter backup lights were $400 and my airplane hood ornament was $300! Go figure!

Box them up and send them to Fredericksburg Va. to Wayne’s auto parts and chrome. It will take forever but he seems reasonable.

 

Start painting. $500 is chump changing when it comes to plating these days.

 

A buddy of mine does not do show chrome but has the plater do race chrome. Says it is less money fwiw.

 

Buy some paint. Chroming the chopped windshield frame for my ‘32 was over $500.

 

I was the same as @chop &drop with $500 for the windshield and then $200 for each of the garnish molds.Add the 10% GST and I got a $1650 bill. All parts were brand new so there was no rework required.
