So I was planning on using this old pair of 37ish? split wishbones I got on my T-touring/Model A frame project and just discovered an issue. However I just realized the Model A spring perch pins are too short! I measure outside spread of my split wishbones and found it is 4” which is an inch wider than the Model A wishbone 3” spread.

First, is there a longer spring perch pin out there that will work with these spilt bones? If so, what should I be looking for?

Second, can anyone ID the year(s) of these split bones? I know the spring perches have been cut off of them, that’s where I was planning to put my shock mount.

    Thanks for any help.

Looks like 40-41 bones. Ebay has some perch bolts listed for 40-41.

Those are like 35 and later spring in front wishbones with the spring hanger part cutoff. Not sure what year. You can buy long aftermarket perches from speedway and a bunch of other places. They are for accepting a lower bolt on aftermarket shock mount.

Just cut the top thinner on the bones and Remachine the taper, that’s what I did and seen others do. If you don’t need the mechanical brake portion of the perches you can get the aftermarket longer perches.

Thanks, I didn’t know longer ones were available.

Thanks, I was wondering if that was possible but I thought it was cupped and not a straight taper. Do you know what degree reamer would be needed? I’d rather use my original Model A parts if possible even though I’ll be removing the mechanical brake attachment.

Thanks for the help. Decided to order the longer perch pins. If I grind the bones thinner I won’t be able to mount my shocks on the bone yoke.
