Might want to consider starting an auto (only) related political section. The way things are steamrolling, we might just be legislated off the road! The Hot Rod situation is the worst it’s been in 20 years in Wisconsin, and doesn’t appear like it is going to get any better, without some pushback. I’m sure Wisconsin isn’t the only problem state.

Just because the guys in California are going to have to buy really long extension cords for their cars doesn't mean the rest of us have to worry. [emoji6][emoji39][emoji12]

As a retired Teamster Truck Driver, it always cracks me up when the element of a driver-less truck is approached or the thought of a electric powered big rig.

Its just my opinion and nothing more, but as long as the oil company's continue to pump oil out of the ground, to power internal combustion engines, I doubt there will ever be an electric powered Semi Truck, that can carry its own battery and have enough carrying capacity to deliver a payload that can make any money.
Sad to hear that the State of Wisconsin, is having continuing issues, that make it hard for those that love old cars and trucks and hot rods.

    Your results may vary.

Agree, at least a place to post links of current legislation etc. I know politics **** but it’s nice to know what’s going on in other states. The uninformed are easily outmaneuvered.
Joining Sema is a good start.

Seems like the H.A.M.B. used to be at least 7 new pages daily… isn’t it like 5 pages daily, lately?

The thing about politics is this… in todays day and age, people don’t agree to disagree… or even just disagree… Instead, they hate each other over things presented and marketed by people that tend to benefit from that loathing.

And you know as well i as do, that we can’t talk car politics without someone letting their 24 hour news network education leak in right along with their straight tickets…

I want nothing to do with that… and will never host politics of any kind here. Sorry.

    Ryan,
Pretty sure the opposition (politicians) won’t be on the H.A.M.B. opposing what is being discussed. Should be pretty close to 100% gearheads discussing what the various bureaucrats are attempting nationwide, and what we can do to pushback.
Would sure like to give it a try…and if it becomes a problem in any way, close it down.
Hot Rods are way too cool to not put up a good fight!
    Thanks for all you do.

That’s not how a forum works. Everyone here loves cars obviously, but we all have different priorities. You can’t discuss the political environment around the ICE without discussing bills and policies… and you can’t discuss those policies without discussing the politicians around them.

What you won’t have is people that think unilaterally about those politicians… because there is too much division a****st Americans - even Americans that love cars. We are divided. Ironically, a big part of that division comes from irresponsible use and understanding of social media.

In any regard, I hate to just shut you down… but there is no way in hell I’d do this. I have zero interest.

I’d suggest you find another medium or start your own movement if you are that p***ionate and energetic about it.

Ignoring a problem will never make it going away. That being said, there’s a bunch of folks who can’t have a civil discussion about anything who destroy it for everyone else. Keeping informed is the best defense, you just have to get information where you can. Don’t know of any one place to get it all.

I back Ryan100% on this.... if anything has the slightest political injection either way, I can almost tell you who will report it, their politics based on the report and , or what part of the country they live in.

It's become quite educational and predictable really.

YES - We all love cars but some love their car more than politics, and some love their politics more than their cars.

    That's why I back Ryan 100% ..... I'm here to enjoy cars.
I don't care what side you choose politically - Yes I said side because that seems to be the way of the world today.

Just like 4th grade gym - kickball - ok line up - shout out 1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2,1,2.
Ok - 1's on this side, 2's on that side.

    HAMB....no politics. :)

Agree completely with Ryan on this. A lot of us here come to this site not only because we really dig these cars but to get away from all that other **** as well.

Legislative issues related to our rods are discussed here, and help is available for situations like Wisconsin rodders are currently facing:

On this forum, any discussion of politics will result in someone's feelings getting hurt. We have a really unique thing here that @Ryan has created and I, for one, don't want to see it screwed up. @A *****, if you want to discuss politics, PM me and I'll take whichever side you don't want. Or better yet, I'll agree with you and we can beat up on the opposition to your heart's content. Your move.

The HAMB is a safe haven from the insanity of the world today.
When the news of the day really ****s, I'm in need of garage time, the HAMB, a good book, and maybe a little MeTV.
That's what keeps me ( somewhat ) sane.
I'd be very disappointed if I ever saw political **** here.

Kinda interesting to see this request given the ******** that’s going on around the world today. It’s been a very long time since I’ve looked in on the H.A.M.B. and I’ve been a member almost since the beginning (business and life got in the way of hot rods over the last few years). I’ve always viewed the H.A.M.B. as a place to escape the day to day problems of the world and shoot the **** about hot rods, all thing cool and most importantly have a laugh along the way.. This place is a wealth of information for just about anything automotive pre 1965. Can we please keep it like that. There are other places and organisation such as SEMA that are better placed and connected to talk about and deal with the political side of our life, lifestyle, hobby or whatever you want to call this thing that we do. Political conversations are a slippery slope that rarely end well in any setting.

  21. There are PLENTY of places to debate/argue/stay informed on political issues & I am very active on many of them! However I stay out of places like "The Clubhouse" on the PY Pontiac Forum. One reason is that it is just NOT good for my business to alienate that portion of the hobby that does not agree with my views (even though I firmly believe a large percentage see thing basically like I do in this hobby) The other is that it is just great to have a place to get away from what is going on in the world for a little while everyday!

    God Bless

  22. A different forum i used to often use for my daily driver allowed politics, moderators who disagreed with your stance often muted you or even banned you for thinking differently than what they do. Id hate to see that happen here. Politics free is a lot easier and less controversial than allowing political talk. (In my opinion). Plus, it prevents division.
