Hello Guys, Quick question...I have oportunity to buy Scintilla dizzy with angle drive. It looks like factory one ...it have Ford script on it. Can somebody tell is it worth attention? Thanks!
Well; if it's not priced like a cotton farm in Georgia, I'd say snap it up. They sure aren't making new ones.
I don’t know the application but the letters SAF on the casting mean it was made by the Ford subsidiary in France.
The way it’s made, and assuming it mounts somewhat with the cap upright, is like a FH Ford that would be driven with a slot on the end of a camshaft. FHs have the slot favoring one side, not suggesting it’s for a FH V8, but the last pic makes it look like the slot to go into would be offset as well. The Fords do have a 3 bolt distributor on some too, maybe try to match up and compare?
Yes, it looks like Flathead angle drive..something early probably. I though I could use it with vertex magneto but it would seat very high probably.. Intetesting piece
If the price doesn’t hurt you, and even if you can’t use/modify it to work for you, it’ll be good to hang on the wall
Not sure but ive seen them on German engines, and they seem to show up in Brasil too. I believe Matt from iron trap found one in his travels. Johnny
What is throwing me is the three bolt mount and the use of the 8BA style dizzy. The 3 bolt mount was phased out in the early 40's with the advent of the 59AB series. With Ford, anything is possible, so I hope someone here knows what this came off of.
Distributor is suited with vacum advance. I don't think that's industrial. @Asphalt Demon do You have any photos of those engines?
