    Yep! Even Here in Cali I closed Irwindale, Lions, OCIR...had to sell my car.
    Heck, Indy is a kit-car race now....no more run what you brung. Soon it will be
    full-sized slot cars!

    That stinks. At least I still have a couple dragstrips within an hour drive, and a few more within 2-3 hours.

    Yeah, I remember when they closed Irwindale. I used to bracket race there most Wednesdays and weekends too! Miller brewery told the city of Irwindale they needed THAT piece of property where the dragstrip was due to the proximity to the railroad tracks. Miller even had meetings with the racers and promised that they supported racing and they would locate a new track close by for us to use. When I left SoCal in 1992 it still hadn't happened. Some of the most fun I had with cars in my young years was at the dragstrip.

    That's a cool story.
    There are two strips within a half-hour drive of my house, and both are very busy and surrounded by farmland so hopefully they'll continue to operate for some time.

    Yeah, your in the sweet spot. You have the new Xtreme strip practically next door in Ferris and then Cedar Creek, Yello Belly, and Ennis not too far away. I made the last nostalgia race at Denton before they shut it down after selling it for Peterbuilt and Freightliner to park trucks. It was a nice track.
