I’m going to be somewhat near there on a trip. Can anyone tell me is this worth going to? How big? How many vendors? Type of stuff sold? I don’t want to show up and find five car part vendors and a whole lot of dishes and stuff. Thank you all for any replies
Full disclosure, I'm a fairly new member (about 2 years) of the Fremont Antique Car Club that puts on this meet. I've been going to this as both a buyer and a seller since the early 80's. Always worth going to this one. It is well established, 55th year. I don't have specific vendor numbers. I suppose I could get them for you if that is important. I know the reserve inside vendor space is at pre-sold capacity and, yeah, you might find some non-car stuff in there. Seems to be that way at most swap meets anymore, but you never know what people are going to buy. People collect a wide variety of things. The outdoor spots and the dirt-floor arena building are first come, first serve and that is where you are going to find the majority of automotive vendors, from parts to project cars. The meet is held rain or shine. You will not have trouble finding car parts at this swap meet. Also want to mention for clarity ... there used to be a 2 day June swap meet at the same location. It was a good meet put on by a group of investors. It ceased operation a few years back. Some people confused that swap meet for this one. The F.A.C.C. swap meet is going strong and is always the 4th Sunday in September.
Get there early….as I remember some venders start loading shortly after noon. I’d say it was worth attending
I remember going to this one as a little kid, and we walked a LOT. Course, my legs were shorter then.
As noted on the flyer posted above, Vendors gate opens at 9 pm tonight, for those that prepare ahead of time and don't want to wait in a long line day of event. Get in, get your spot(s) set up the way you like, and be ready to sell stuff Sunday morning. A few hard core guys already in line at noon today. Gates open to public at 6 am Sunday East and west side parking is $3.00
I got there around 845 AM and it appeared that about the same number of vendors were there (I noticed at Greenfield IA two weeks ago that I thought the vendor count was down). I didn't find any of the items I had on the "the list" but picked up a new windshield wiper, Wilwood proportioning valve and door latches for the T (even though there are no doors...yet..in the 1995 gl*** body I'd been looking for a pair of 61 Buick Invicta wheel covers, I had two, and shortly before running into @stanlow69 I stumbled over one for $2. I lamented the fact I still needed one so I would have a set of four. After I got home I went upstairs to look for some other wheel covers to hang for "garage art" and found that I didn't have three Dodge Dart (1960 or so) wheel covers but two Dodge Darts and a Buick Invicta wheelcover. I should have bought a lottery ticket too
I get crazy ideas in my head. Then I find a roof section off of a 69 Caprice. $75 bucks. Then it won`t fit in my pickup with a topper. SOO I drag it across the isle and have a friend haul it home. Also another crazy idea with a set of stude fins from @vtx1800 earlier in the year. I also scored a cool poster from @54delray. Thanks a ton.
Sorry, no pics from me. I had a some tables inside so didn't get a chance to see any of the meet. Sold plenty of stuff, mostly auto/transportation related. But actual car parts? ... brought most of them back home. I did score a one piece front bumper for a '56 Chevy. I'm going to put it on my mild '54 Chevy.
Saw Dwight Bond ( Gibbon Bodies ) Gibbon Ne. been a while since bumping into him, he was selling a few 32 parts said he still drives his 32 pickup every day...good to see some long time at heart hot rodders.
