Been searching all over but have not found a definite answer. How are these two parts supposed to attach to each other? I know I could weld or bolt but how did Henry do it? Thx
Thanks for the responses. Could somebody please post a pic or two? I would like to do something close, rivet size and spacing.
I found this picture and I think you can see the holes where the rivets attach the two pieces. The inner holes attach the bed wood, in the outer holes you can see the rivets that hold the two pieces together. I got rivets from Synders antique auto parts. I made a bucking bar out of a 3/4 " bolt with a hole started in the bolt head to hold the rivet head. I made the bar so I could hold the rivet tightly in place. I put the rivets in place and I used my mig welder to heat and melt the rivets, then used my impact hammer to hit the hot end of the rivet, tightening it in place. Weld straight down on the rivets and they will mushroom when hit with the impact hammer.
As long as we're on the subject, does anyone have pix of how the bed ***embly attaches to the frame, particularly a frame with the Tardel Z?
