    Hey guys,
does anyone here know of a true CIGAR lighter that was made or how difficult would it be to custom fab something that would light a 60 ring gauge (max, more likely 56 I don't really smoke 60's but sometimes do a 56 box press or something) cigar. Otherwise you're lighting part then another part hten another. do I need it? NO, of course not, I carry lighters everywhere. But if I'm going to the h***le of building custom **** into a car why not have a pimp cigar lighter?

Looking at them it looks like a wrapped strip of metal with contact point on the center and on the outer ring, correseponding with the socket. I'm not a brilliant fabricator but I imagine I could duplicate that. Has anyone tried it?

I'm the one building a 49 shoebox "Jimmy Shoe" with my brother. a basic homedone interior was done last winter and it's coming to my garage this weekend for me to start full rewiring, adding a few more things. In fact I'm about to buy a welder because I'll need that for the project too. When we bought the car we had access to a full shop then our uncle got ill and died and his mentally ill daughter and drug addict grandson emptied his shop for drug money. yay.

    Thanks all.

The winding is probably made of Nickel-Chrome wire, but it's a flat shape, which might be difficult to find. Also you need to look at the current drawn, which is related to the cross section area, and length, and voltage.

Good luck...but it will be a fun project

An outfit called Cuno made some neat under-dash, large cigar lighters WAY back in the day, but they're all 6 volt.

Land Rovers came with a cigar lighter. Not sure how large they are, but larger than the cigarette lighters. I had a Disco for a few years and I lite a few decent size cigars with it.

Only if you have the optional Smoker's Pack. Without that option checked, you only got a cigarette lighter.

You can get the sockets and elements from Land Rover still- perhaps use the guts of one to create something more in keeping with the dash?
