Hi Guys; finally got around to posting an intro after lurking for a week and posting a phantom photo of my 49 Dodge. Anyway, I have 3 (make that 4) projects I'm working on: the above-mentioned 49 Dodge, a butchered 27 T that is now a roadster, a 29 A coupe made from an original firewall and some 2x2s and roof flashing, and a 1-man track car I'm gonna make from the leftovers: the 4 cylinder and drivetrain from the A, a frame made from 2x3 steel tubing, and a body I'm gonna make from 3/8 cold rolled round stock with 18 guage steel wrapped around it. Just a simple tub welded up with my trusty gas torch. Can't find a pic of the T but as soon as the Dodge is a driver (in a week or 2), I'll be starting on it: '54 331 hemi, 12-spoke magnesium front and 5-spoke Americans out back with a Winters quick-change, and (if I can figure out how to hook it up) a blower! I'm STOKED!
Yeah, the 49 Dodge has the original flathead six. Rebuilt last fall. Eventually, I'd like to make headers and a dual intake for it, and maybe put a hot cam in it. The hemi is going in the 27 T tho.
Thass cool you are keeping the six. They are great motors. I like mine. Have you ever checked out http://www.edgycams.com/ I am not sure if he is doing much work these days because they just had a child but I have heard quality things. He also used to make aluminum heads for Mopar sixes. Don't know if he still does that either. Good Luck. Justin
Welcome - nice coupe, and i like the T project. I spent a lot of time out in Lehigh Acres staking out power poles in the middle of palmettos & nowhere. Does the mosquito control still fly the converted C 47 transports out of the old training base?
Well, it's still out in the middle of nowhere, but developers are starting to buy it up for pricey houses. I was thinking of buying up a block of land and building an 8-car garage with a bedroom and bathroom attached, but I think I'll buy an old farm next year instead.
