I know nothing of the internal condition of this engine, so it's coming out for tear down and inspection.

I'm here! Wanted to go to RPM's But got call out & just got back! Almost caught my breath! Now I've got 13 days to prepare the car for the "Velocity Invitational" at Laguna Seca. "Piece of Cake"!

 

@Greg Stokes - do you know if you went with the M-21 or M-102?

Jim said the M-102 is definitely wilder, I'm trying to find someone who has used it to tell me how streetable it is. Jim says it's right on the edge - curious what that translates to both from a power and drivability standpoint.

Geo. Riley flathead banger made it to the Gathering at the Roc and back...1400 trouble free miles

 

Checking in, had the Red Dust Revival at Lake Perkolilli, Western Australia, last month. Once again, I was too busy having fun to take pictures but there will be plenty of stuff coming out over the next month or so.



We broke the 400 mile trip home into a two night camping trip, spent the second night at a long abandoned town called Mount Palmer and had the place to our self, not that there's much of anything left. Perfect spot to tool around in the roadster for the afternoon.

attached is a list of Jim's grinds for your reference.

 

I’d also like to hear from someone with experience with the M-21 cam.

 

I have run the M-21 in a B engine bored .100" over with a Rutherford head and @ 9:1 comp. ratio, Three Stromberg carbs (97 as primary and two 81's as secondaries) 20# alum flywheel and T-5 trans. Ran very strong ans with the 5 speed was very streetable. It liked to rev. and break crankshafts. The last one was a Scat crank.

I feel it was an issue with the crank

Is the area circled showing an oil feed hole or is it just part of the broken journal?

 

Drilled oil feed hole, approx 8% of the journal area. Typical Mod "A" journal size.
