I always liked the Nanook altereds and their distinctive painted T bodies

  11. Dave's grandson drives the new car, now. He ended up in the wall, so Norm Porter put a new front end on the car. The wrecked remnants, are still sitting at Norm's. I was stoked to help make the new belly pan, after Norm had finished everything he had to do.

I wonder how many altereds pictured on this thread met their demise as a result of "on track incidents"?
    (My Logghe car almost did.)
How many still exist relatively intact?

I think that you would be surprised how many old fuel cars are just stashed in garages.

  17. My uncle built the frame for the original 195AH and it was not going to pass tech in the continual safety driven sport into the mid 1960's. One of the reasons they teamed up with the Burkhalter Bros that had a shop down from my grandpa's place - in the alley. This is the early version with injectors.[IMG][IMG]

It’s the Hayward and Schmitt “Monkey Motion” fuel altered. The Hemi powered version, I believe it was powered by a small block Chevy for a while.
Yesterday I went with my wife to meet with Steve Hayward, her insurance agent, wearing an LA Roadster club T-Shirt. He asked if I was from LA and I said yes. He handed me an 8x10 B&W photo of the Monkey Motion AA/FA and said, “recognize this? It was my Dad’s car.”
Well I’ll be damned. He had a few stories…..
We did eventually get around to discussing insurance. Small world.

we are building this here in the U.K , its a old race car but is being up(back) dated with some great work by Harley at Imperial Speed Co. Its going to be a run what you brung car as both me and my son don't want to bracket race but who knows we might get enough interested to start a class. We would love a blown Hemi but a small block keeps it affordable, we are hoping for mid nine second quarters. tempImageK5u2jF.png IMG_8297 2.jpg tempImage2Nf3cU.png

I've been racing since 1978! but I know what you mean that's why we won't go bracket racing - our next run will be the quickest lol
