Being the Mopar guy, several of the Dodge trucks were pretty poor guesses of the years (50's Dodge truck for a mid 60s unit?), and a few with the actual year stated were off a bit. I'm guessing ***les are non existent. I can't imagine how difficult it might be to get a ***le and have a truck you can drive.

I do see a lot of money departing some peoples pockets, but likely not mine. It will be interesting to see what some of this stuff brings. I don't expect to see many real deals. Would definitely have to be an onsite buy for me, some stuff looks a lot better then some of the other stuff.

The ***le issue depends a lot on what state you live in. Not a big deal in my state....thank goodness !

There is more cool stuff in that auction than any one of it's type that I have seen. It might be a real good thing that I am a bit too old and don't have the extra money. It's a truck freaks paradise and if you are looking for pieces to build a bobber truck there seem to be plenty of candidates plus who knows how many AD an TF GM trucks.

I've chased a few Dimaond T and Mack pickups over the years and never had the amount of cash needed to drag one home.
The one year free storage may be what makes this auction a winner. I've p***ed on online auctions before where I just flat didn't have the time to get to where they were in the time they alloted for removing what you bought. This helps a lot of guys be able to bid and buy and then plan the road trip.

Side note, The original Cabellas store is in Sidney Ne. A great side trip on a trip there.

Show me the the owner of that hoard, and I'll show you a man who LOVES junk! Can you imagine the fun he had finding all 900+ and dragging them back to his place. Living the dream.
Even has a few Hemis. I marked a whole bunch of favorites.

Ten years ago, an auction like that probably would have gotten me into big trouble. Unfortunately, OOPS! I meant fortunately, yea, fortunately, I've matured since then. Living on a fixed income has contributed to my maturity a bit...

If anyone wants the 37 Stude coupe express, to restore(yah, dirty word on this board), there is an ad for the complete driveline minus the radiator, from a 37 Coupe Express, in this months' issue from the Antique Studebaker Club. I'll be happy to p*** that on to whomever wants it.

Anybody here bidding on anything at this auction? I really thought about the whiskey bus (first lot) but I just brought a truck in Il. this morning thru this auction site and last week I brought a truck in Ky. so I am going to back off and be a spectator at this one at least for now. I have enough on my plate before winter sets in.

You must not get out much if western Ne. is almost too far to go

  11. The fun has begun. Looks like a 20 day auction, we should start to guess which lot will bring the most.

They still get the bill of sale/receipt/paperwork from the auction company and that carries a lot of weight when you go to present paperwork when the time comes.

The bids are running about like I figured, the Diamond T trucks that are pretty complete are getting quite a bit of attention as are the cab overs .

If they had a s****per lined up to take the frames and running gear and heavy stuff that a lot of guys hwo want a cab or sheet metal don't want, the prices on a lot of stuff would probably go higher.

I agree with all the above ^^^, but keep in mind that the main reason all this stuff survived is that its a long ways to a s**** yard that pays anything. In that part of the world ranches are 10k plus acres, and many vehicles were bought new and never left the farm. In my military obsessed days, the 80's and 90's the sand hills of nebraska was prime hunting grounds. Often times the driveway to the ranch may be 10 miles, and in some cases you covered 20 miles of gravel road to get to the driveway. I was into Halftracks, had 11 of them at one point. The ranchers there loved halftracks as they crossed the sandy ground with no problem. Folks got introduced to halftracks in the blizzard of 49 when the government sent them out to try and help save the starving cattle. Very good youtube video from Wyoming PBS ***led the blizzard of 49 if you look.
So, these ranchers would tell me, they went to Omaha to the surplus dealers, and would buy 3 halftracks for 350 apiece, drive one and tow the other two all the way to the sand hills 300+ miles away. Then, once home they made farm tractors out of them. First thing was remove all the side armor. The good news was, there was no place to s**** it, so often times the armor was laying rite where they took it off 40 years ago. The ranchers were not dumb about old cars, they talked about "folks from California " sweeping thru in the 60's buying up all the 30's vintage fords. There was also a guy from Valentine Ne. who pretty much wiped out the model A's in western nebraska , and took them to pamona and sold world wide. Shopping in Nebraska has always been a great joy to me. !!

Being the mayor, owning a few patents (7 or 8 maybe?) and several business's including a truck salvage yard, I would think he was well known and seemed to be well liked too.

A lot of that stuff may have also been towed in off I 80 years ago, Then that is probably the "good stuff" and you don't know how much got parted out or s****ped over the years. If that place is like a lot of yards those were in the "good stuff, private lot that the public didn't get into and you were only taken out there if you wanted to buy a complete vehicle if any of them were actually for sale.

On the details page, it says you can take what you want and leave the rest. I know there are a couple of things I am bidding on for just parts and pieces.

I am going to have to study their fine print again as that makes bidding on one that I am interested in far more attractive if I don't have to figure out how to haul a big ch***is home.

Bidding closes Wednesday, October 26th, 2022 starting at 12:26pm Mountain Daylight Time.
There are actually three catalogs for the auction as the vehicles are in three different spots/fields.
As far as S****per goes, the gent and now his family own a s**** company as he had for years. I'd say a good number of those trucks were bought at s**** price over the years.

In the notes it says that you don't have to take the whole vehicle you buy, after you can pay for it and take what you want and they will deal with what is left. Meaning that guys who want just the cab off a big truck can get just the cab and what they want and not have to haul the whole large ch***is home. That especially makes the cab overs a lot more interesting to a number of guys.

I think @phat rat is referring to the Auction link Big Dad posted above, not the same as the OP's auction.. And yeah there were some good deals to be had for sure ! If you check the link it still shows all the cars and lists the "price realized". A few were probably under s**** value.

Thanks fellas yes that was the one with the realized prices.

On the current auction that started this thread, I only realized last night it is broken into 3 parts. Another hour wasted looking at the other two I had missed previously :)

I knew a guy that had a huge spread out west. He told me it could take him most of the day to drive it all in his pick up. I told him, yeah I once had a Ford too. ;)

  29. I have been to 3 similar auctions in the last 5 years. It's real easy to say you'll wait for a better one. For many of us, that will be unaffordable. I have done a few that look like many of those on the auction. If that's all that is available, they start to look better. As time p***es, we may look back and think we should have bought some of this stuff. I'm not a coe fan as to own one but I like looking at what people have done with them. When was the last time you saw this many at one time? It's easy to see where the real interest is. :)
