Looks like a 74-up Maverick. 5 lug, will be either a 2.79 [likely] or 3.00 [optional] open rear. If it's got front disc brakes, the Mustang guys will buy them, spindels and all, direct bolt on. If it's a V8 car, the frame mounts and transmission crossmember have value to Maverick guys converting 6cyl cars to V8's. Been there, done that!
figure that he's gonna fix it up one day, and he watches those shows on TV, so it's gonna have a $10k price tag
The only four door maverick on earth with a salt water aquarium and a slot machine. Needs brakes. No offers I know what I have. Also, multiple weird fish to a good home.
Keep the slot machine to recoup some money. Make sushi out of the fish. And sell the aquarium stuff. Offer him $1500.00 for the mess and walk away if he don’t like it!
I think for 1500 I’d spend a few more $$ and call one of the many aftermarket places, not have to deal with the leftovers and maybe rebuild cost of the rearend. Now if there was a use for the engine/trans/etc. no issue, but not just to get a rear that fits.
Next time try a pro rearend shop like this. Thanks for the link, I haven’t got anywhere with this mess yet. I’m mired in some intractable mini game with a parts supplier that has the axle rebuild parts, but visa and their system won’t talk anymore. I feel like this whole build just got permanently derailed by this stupid rear end fiasco.
Update on the rear end. I broke it on July 9, here we are at August 5th and the third member is at the doctors office right now. I took it in to a local machine shop that does mostly racing stuff and they’re going to machine a sleeve and shim it for the correct preload. Also doing the bearings and having the axle retainers and bearings changed out. I brought some of that stuff in myself like the bearings and seal for the pinion but I hope they have the Timco bearings for the pinion in stock. It’s obviously becoming even harder to source things out, and once you do, a lot of online sources say out of stock even if you find the thing listed for sale. I’ll update this again once I get it back and pay them for it. Thanks for all the guidance on this so far!
Update: celebrating the two month anniversary of dropping the third member off for repair. At the end of this week I'm going to go get it back from the shop and go somewhere else with it. Building a car is becoming more and more difficult
yup, you pretty much have to do everything yourself. You can do it, but you might have to buy some tools.
Update: it’s finally back in and the car is doing car things. It cost 1020$ cad with taxes for the third member to be rebuilt with new pinion bearings and a spacer and shims. The turn around time was 15 weeks in a local shop. The bearings were over 300$ shipped from eastern Canada. I’m just glad it’s over sheesh. Thanks for all the support in this guys
