Oldest continuous running drag strip in Texas—-was a major road until 50’s then state moved the road about 75 yards south and it has been a drag strip ever since. Many cars, many people, only took a few pics because people were always in the way.
Any of the Gasser Crowd show up? My friend Dan with his '41 Studebaker Coup "Avalon Speed Shop" on the door said he would be there.
I mentioned to my wife TX/OU this weekend always used to always mean Day of the Drags weekend at Little River for us !
The Avalon Studebaker was there—-have seen the gasser many times b4 at Little River—-he ran the car hard as always—-car is pretty quick with Hillborn mechanical injection on a small block with 4 spd. Lots of fast cars at Temple-Little River-Academy drag strip—-been going there over 50 years—-always a good time.
Thanks for pics ! Live around 35 miles from Galveston Isle .... many drag strips have closed over the years that are close Ricky.
Thanks for the photos, I raced there in 1969 and spectated a number of times over the next 8 years before I moved back up here.
Myself and three friends always went to Day of the Drags for 6 yrs. before they stopped having them. Always a great time. Is someone putting on Nostalgia Drags again? Here is Dans Studebaker at the 2018 "Day of The Drags" He has had the car for lots of years
I went to that strip some twenty years ago and after the drags were over they had a street dance on the drag strip! Had a blast! Bones
I reckon she came with one of those yoyos at the other end of the car and he's not paying her any attention. Shame on him if he comes back and she's taken off with some other rounder .
