Please be aware that there is currently an Instagram seller going by the screen name TROGRACER (Instagram username is actually OLDTROGRACER) selling parts. He takes payment via Paypal F&F only, then sends fake tracking info from a "Company" called SOS Express Delivery which is a non-entity. You then receive an email stating the shipment is on its way but on "hold" due to needing more insurance. You are to then purchase a video game gift card and send them the number, at which time your shipment will supposedly be released for delivery. There is no recourse for Paypal F&F (which again is a warning to NEVER use it unless you actually know the person you're sending money to).

Please be aware of this scam and avoid at all costs:

There is a Report function on Instagram where you can report the account as a scammer.

  6. Should be pretty common knowledge by this point in time that if someone insists on F&F from Paypal move on.

  7. The 3 dots to the right of his name. Press those. Then "about account" should show he is in Camaroon.

I’d say outside of the HAMB, you are correct (excluding new, just joined members).

How to check any account, before you even consider a transaction:

  13. Even then you are scamming the system. I have never understood why people think they should be able to use a service like PayPal for free.

I still pay the same amount as a buyer, unless I link to my checking account. So when I buy through PP it’s on a debit card. The seller gets the asking price, PP takes their 1.? %.
I’m the only one taking a risk, and the service is not free;)

  16. It was once not a big deal to pay the fees, now it can really screw you if you are the guy selling parts and using payment via pay pal. However, the GOV has stepped in and fucked the little guy in the process of trying to clamp down on bigger fish. Now if you have more than $600 dollars in transactions through Pay Pal as the seller receiving the money, you will be sent a 1099 tax form at the end of the year that you have to claim as income on your taxes for the total amount you received. Most of us buy and sell this stuff to fund our projects, so think about how much stuff you have sold in year, and that being added onto your gross income for taxes at the end of the year. it could really screw you. This does not apply to friends and family, but does in the fee portion. Now if i sell something and it is someone i do not know, i will ask for it friends and family, to avoid the tax crap. If they are not comfortable with that, then send me a money order or even a personal check and ill ship it when the check clears. I've been selling and buying stuff on IG for years. We have a small community of people that deal in these old speed parts. If I don't know you, I will ask some friends if they do, if they don't either and they guy has thousands of dollars worth of parts for sale, I know he is a bull shitter. If someone on IG had that much killer shit, someone that actually does have killer stuff would know him or know about him.

If you didn't know that about the 1099 from paypal, be prepared, it started this year. if you did it through "goods and services" and received more than $600, you will receive a 1099 this year, it went into effect in 2022.

You know what’s coming next, right? They’ll monitor f and f transfers, if you do 5 transactions a month (as an example) why do all these 60 different folks send you money throughout the year?
Not being political, I do understand we should pay taxes. But dang, if I want to offload old stuff I’ll never use, why tax me?
New stuff I can see…ie resellers trying to skirt around it.

If someone uses F and F to cheat the company I don't see why people would not expect them to cheat you.

  19. Oh im sure it will come to that. And i have no problem with paying taxes if it is warranted. But not everyone on pay pal is running a business, for most of us its nothing more than a swap meet or yard sale on the interwebs. I buy and sell parts to fund my projects, I don't make enough to cut into the family budget much if at all for my old car addiction.

The Hamb is no place for a discussion about scammers on other sites....
