    This is a general question.
I has seen many coupes and roadsters use the 37-41 axles and also the 36 axles.
I has not the 36 axle CC but the 37 is at CC 49”.
If one has a A-Ford spring ( lose ) its around 4” at each side to reach the perch on the 37 axle.
Is it really possible to bend out the A-Ford spring that much ?
According to Poises springs they are +39” at CC ( but not my spring, Henry std ) Se picture.

    -I will not use a QC but still ’maybe’ use the A-Ford spring/cross ( 32 frame )
But I can’t see it would work.

I've got a '40 rear in my roadster with a chrome A spring, I can ***ure you it fits. I had the spring dis***embled and it wasn't too hard to get the shackles on the main leaf, then I ***embled the rest of the spring from there. 20170325_154640.jpg

I'm using a 32 frame with a Model A rear crossmember and a 1939 rear and a Model A spring with reverse eyes. I dis***embled the spring and hung the main leaf , then added the rest of the leaves.

I made this tool to spread the main leaf enough to mount it to the spring hanger and shackle

No kidding, ok so 8” off, that’s why I’m almost lost my point finger last friday to remove one ;-))
A fool had to pay the price...to ol” Henry.
As I will not use a QC ( save it for a A-roadster body ) as I see no use install the this great looking rear end to not be seen.
Fuel tank is all in it’s way.
More ’racy’ plus the early 40’s style not use one ( as I build now )

Are you at all concerned about your shackles being flat and not at a 45 degree downward angle? I’ve got a 46 truck banjo with Model A perches, Model A reversed eye spring and flat original Model A shackles. I think I’m going to install slightly longer shackles to give some relief to the spring but I think they will still be pretty flat.

Stock "A" perches were 49-1/2" apart, '37 perches 48" apart; stock "A" spring on a later banjo is not a problem.

Is the Posies "A" spring you referenced one of the ones he makes that are skinnier to fit between the backing plates on a narrow late rear.

Her is what Poises said, they might mean most A springs ( std or theirs ?
My std was 38" on a table.

"Most Model A rear springs have a 39 3/4" eye to eye measurement when unloaded setting on the table."

I could see that. An A spring really does have a lot of arch and it gets taller when released.
