Had my rear liftgate straightened by a shop in Arizona called Mad Mooks. I also bought a strut kit that rep[laces the lift spring which is what causes all of the distortion. He also chased all of the threads and sold me a new hardware kit and anti rattle kit and new seal. I was told by Mooks that I have a crack in the upper window channel which is very common. I then sent it to a guy that I know that will braze the crack, flow copper over it and chrome the whole window frame. I will have some considerable money tied up in this but if you want it right then you need to do it right. And right is not cheap.
Widows are all in, chrome is all on, all I'm waiting on is my liftgate, interior and to replace the trans. Sat too long, leaks.
[QUOTE="R. Seghi, post: Deal for the Corvette did not go thru so I'll be waiting abit, Forgot to say that I sold the Corvette for 30K. Been using the money to finish this and my Gasser. And my health is improving.
NOMAD IS DONE !!! I am now driving it. Drove it to Fathers Day at Pomona for it's first show. Everybody loved it. Drives very nice. Lotta fun, love how it turned out. Been along time coming but as we know alot of time is spent waiting on other people, friends, shops, parts and then I also had to beat Cancer and a few other health issues. Sucks getting old. But it's done and I am doing well. I will be showing it alot next summer. Been working on the 55 also during this so that should be up soon too.
Interior was done by The Upholstery Zone in Simi Valley, Ca. Ramon does one car at a time by himself totally by hand. Obviously he uses sewing machines but that is all. No help. I did however design the door panels. If you look closely I used the original arm rests and chrome strip at the bottom of the door. We collaberated on the colors.
Nomads use a gold grill and gold hood V and hood script. I elected to use chrome because I did not want to throw in another color and disrupt the flow. I don't want your eyes to be drawn to the hood and grill and take away from the whole package. I want your eyes to flow over the whole car and take everything in and not be disrupted.
Super job. Glad you got it over the finish line. My 57 has no gold on it either. It a pale yellow, (64 Vette) and the silver looks a lot better. Again, love you car.
Glad you're doing well. That Nomad is stunning! Good choice using the chrome hood pieces. Are you deleting the Nomad specific tailgate V and script?

40Vert: Great looking Nomad. Mad Mooks stuff is super high quality. Yes I am very happy with his work. I bought new windows all around. I bought from Mike The straightening, the Hydraulic lift struts, the anti rattle kit which does help but there will always be a little squeak coming fronm the gate. That's why God invented the stereo. If it makes noise, turn up the radio lol. I bought the weather stripping which fits well and all of the hardware from Mike. All in all with having the top of the gate welded because they all crack in the top channel and rechroming I spent $6000 total for all to get my liftgate in top shape.
I know myself personally about getting old and fighting cancer. Love your nomad wish i still had mine.
I finally sold this Corvette for 30K so I could finish the Nomad. Nice trade off, profit 5K, finish the Nomad.
WOW, sorry I have not posted here in a while. I WAS driving the Nomad around alot until I was heading to Fathers Day at Pomona last year and the motor spun a bearing. Apparently it was older then I thought. I had that motor in 5 different cars. A friend offered a 350 engine and 700 R4 trans with 10,000 mi on it for free if I help him put an LS motor and trans. in a '34 Chevy coupe. We went thru the motor to make sure it's good. Trans is good. Redid the heads because we are putting a bigger cam in the motor. Yes it took a long time but there were so many factors called life getting in the way. Plus I have to wait for help as I'm a Disabled Veteran and other people work and have families. We will go thru the engine compartment again and detail the heck out of it this time. So it will make Fathers Day at Pomona this year so if you're there come say Hi. Can't miss me, I'll be driving around with a big ass smile.
