Need some help guys......
Welcome to the HAMB. Nice Model A. Another source for info to help with your question is the Ford Barn: https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/ Good luck with your search.
On model "A" the serial number is under the body near the left front body mount.... It is just a production sequence number.... If it has the original motor they would be the same number...Has nothing to do about body type.....
Looks like an early to mid-year '31 Cabriolet (68B body style). The later '31 style was a different animal with a slanted windshield (68C body style) and teardrop firewall. Neat car!
Here’s a list of the serial numbers for month and year. For a cabriolet, it doesn’t look to have the post on the front of the door where it meets the A pillar, did it start out as a coupe?
I thought the body looked a little odd too. Maybe Covalie is a person he named the homegrown body style after? Do you have any other pics of the top of the doors and windshield area?
"covalie" may be a typo or DMV abbreviation but I have never heard of the term. I doubt you have a AA frame. They were heavier and larger and would require a lot of modifications to be used. Where in general are you located? Charlie Stephens
Looks like a Roadster to me. If original motor the numbers are the same as the frame number. Paul in CT
Would be interesting to see how the top of the Windshield frame is fastened to the body header panel. That door is a real head scratcher, how does the door gl*** roll up?
