History Is there a color you won't paint a car? why?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by HOTRODPRIMER, Oct 26, 2022.

  1. I made the mistake of painting my old 1932 Ford hiboy roadster orange, I liked the color but got so tired of being ask if I was a Clemson University fan, I guess because I live less than 30 miles from the school, I hear the same question when I drove to Knoxville, Tennessee, I suppose the Volunteers have orange uniforms also.

I bet I fielded the question about my college affiliations every time I drove the car.

I wont paint a car or truck orange again, I think from now own I'm gonna stick with BLACK. HRP

Actually, being a died in the wool Ford fan, and having had a '57 Ranch Wagon with a 406, and a while back a 427 Galaxie, I guess I'd like to paint MG427's '62 Galaxie mine. Simple as that !! 427 garage 003.jpg

  9. White would be ok if I lived in AZ, NV or NM for practical reasons.

I won't paint one black, but then, it's not even a color.

I still like my old orange truck, painted it that color in 1981...still have it...

  11. WTF is wrong with yellow? Although it does have to be the right yellow for the car.

Red (any) for two reasons, everyone has it and the wife hates it.

    My favorite color is nude....

  16. I always thought black was a mixture of all colors and that white was the absence of color.
Edit: I was wrong you were right. Damn art teacher in HS was total BS

I’m colorblind. It wouldn’t matter anyway.
Brown/green is my choice I wouldn’t have. Some yellows and no more red cars.

Depends on the body style, basic colors never get old but all the candy/ flip flop crap is outdated before it dries. Trendy colors are just that, trendy.
I have owned black cars in the past and appreciate how good they look but keeping them clean is nerve racking.
I know one thing I will never own another vehicle with a black interior-boring, lifeless, and a bitch to keep looking clean.

Earth tones, the lite greens, browns, blues, and gold shades that a lot of cars were painted over the years when new. Not because they were cool but because your grandmother liked it! Trepanier and Foose really brought those shades back into vogue in the late 90's and a lot of builders have stuck with them. I like Black and dark and menacing metallics! I want my cars to look mid evil! lol Larry

Actually, my '62 406 Galaxie 500XL still has it's original black paint- it ain't perfect, but presentable. The ragtop is a 390 car, but is also a black XL
