Technical What have I got here ?

Yes I know it's an automatic shifter ! Anyone ever seen or dealt with one of these, happen to know the manufacturer and about when it was produced. I don't see any markings on it and my guess is the 1960's - 70's. It's from a late buddy who had a T-Bucket with a 400 transmission in it and it is NOS and in nice shape. Will probably be for sale as I have nothing with a turbo 400 in it and just trying to figure out what it is. Thanks !

Yep I think so. It's neat how far over it moves the shift handle for more right side leg room. Never seen another like it and hope it can find a good home in the future for somone.

It was built for T buckets and narrow applications, so the shifter is on the right side of the transmission.

Looks like half of one of those paper cutters from the school office.
Probably needs a fairly long slot in the floorboard.
But I can see the reasoning in a narrow T-bucket.

 

I have one of those. Took it out of a t bucket.

 

Saw that in the TP catalog back in the day, and loosely copied it for all my glides. I wanted my shifter dead nuts in the middle, and as far away from my nuts as possible. As I recall my set-ups used all-thread, clevises, flat stock and and a tub full of used Mr. Gasket, Hurst, and off brand chrome shifters. Back then I got every catalog out there just to see what I could copy-ish as I was one cheap *******. None of mine ever had the neutral switch, which made for some entertaining moments....

 

From the looks of it I wouldn't want to try speed shifting it as it doesn't look like there is much is detents.
