This was a pretty good discussion about it on here. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...-is-it-to-run-4x2s-on-street-flathead.164109/ I have a set up I'd like to run too at some point.
It can be done and fun. There was a guy in Maine, Walt who ran them. He used Strombergs. Of course had Uncle Max in California set them up. He used it on the street ran just fine.
Yeah, but multicarb setups on hotrods are usually more for looks than performance anyway. One or two big carbs will almost always perform better and be easier to adjust than a big litter of small carbs.
Total airflow depends, a**** other things, on the size of the carbs used. 2 x Stromberg "97"'s 3.5 square inches venturi area 3 x Stromberg "97"'s 5.25 square inches venturi area 4 x Stromberg "81"'s 4.12 square inches venturi area Have seen lots of 3 Stromberg 97 set-ups. So 4 type 81's would be "smaller" than 3 type 97's, but have better average cylinder fuel distribution. Jon
Working on one right now, four 81s with help from uncle max. Custom choke linkage for center two carbs.
