I have a 1930 model A with a Chevy 350 engine that I bought. It was an unfinished project when I got it. The car is running fine now, all gauges and accessories work as they should.

The previous owner installed a 1969 or 1970 GM tilt steering column. The key on the column did not start the car. There was a separate ignition switch installed to start the vehicle. I have determined it to be a Painless 80529 3 Way Ignition switch.

Directions online say the wires go as shown below. I have not followed them to see where they actually go, but ***ume they are correct because the car runs fine.
    Red is battery power in
    Brown is accessories
    Pink is power to ignition/coil
    Purple is power to solenoid

I want to get rid of the Painless ignition switch and use the column switch. The key works fine in the column. I have the Ignition Starter Switch mechanism/rod that goes on the column and it is functioning fine. I believe it to be Standard Motor Products US105T.

I have the wires, pigtail, rod that activates the starter switch and 3 feet of wire harness that comes with the stock GM column.

Below is a drawing I came up with from a video online as to what each post on my column switch is for.

I want to make the switch to the column ignition and I don’t want to make a mistake. This should be simple for some guys. But I want to be sure I’m not doing the wrong thing.
    Do i take:
The Red from Painless and connect it to the Red 106 on the GM
The Brown from Painless and connect it to the Brown on the GM
The Pink from Painless and connect it to the Orange on the GM
The Purple from Painless and connect it to the Purple on the GM
Any guidance would be great. Thanks

Change this to pink to pink.
The "orange" terminal isn't connected to the battery source while cranking.

I went through this with a dodge and a Chevy.for the Dodge I had to buy a couple manuals but they were pretty much color to color, but for the Chevy the painless was pretty exact color to color. I wish I could find my schematics I’d send them. But it still helps to have an exact schematic for column switches.
