I would take the peace you have tack in between the grill and bucket and follow it down further along the head lite bucket and then flow it into the grill. How you address the back of the bucket will be the make or break it part. Modifying the rear tail panel in a fashion of the Emperor is no big deal and having a flathead in it doesn't matter. Hot rodders back in the day used what they had. chrome wheels and a Watson style paint job gets you something neat and refreshing. Because if I see another Washington blue, Model A on skinny stock wheels I am going to puke! Everyone does the same old same old and it's done to death. Larry

Build it the way you want it. Life's too short to worry about everyone else's "opinions".

I really like the angled quad lights. I’d re think the vertical grille, seems to overpower the lights. Maybe a grille of cabinet pull knobs or similar, something without such a strong line. Add a custom taillight area, and then chrome, metal flake or Watson style scallops. Do it! I’ll like seeing a bold departure from the traditional formula.

I never understood the attraction to guys building old cars with quad headlights in the 60's? Didn't like it then, and still don't.

Thanks Larry, yes , was planning to dip down below the tacked piece at the top then curve back up to blend back in with the grille and to also curve it down below the bucket to flow into the bottom of the grille. I agree that the rear of the bucket blend to the back of the grille will be the real challenge to get the right look. I have done a few copies on A4 paper to try and draw in the details of how it could work. No chance of it being Washington Blue though.

I hate to disagree, and I hate playing semantics, but I beg to differ. Quad headlights became a thing in Detroit only AFTER customizers, started to adapt them to their projects. The lights customizers used originally weren't made for highway use (aircraft landing light sealed beams, safety equipment and tractor light sealed beams... that sorta thing.) that were readily available and fairly cheap.

Manufacturers have historically drawn from racing and the custom world for inspiration. Just like scouts that hang out at high school and college football games, the big three had scouts that went out to shows and events and leafed through copies of magazines to observe and take notes on what the m***es found desirable.

Personally, I like what OP is doing. It's not just ANOTHER "safe bet" '32 grill shell. It's refreshing to see folks with vision spin their dreams into sheet metal. That's what ALL OF THIS is about.

I say TO HELL with cookie cutter cars!!! You go OP! Go man, GO!!! ;)

I like the way it flows. The only "advice" I can offer, (and please, take it with a grain of salt) is if you could match that waterfall grille trim and carry it over onto the cowl, up to the windshield, and around the gas cap... mmmm **chef's kiss**.

Keep that **** up, OP!!!:cool::cool:

Just my opinion but I think the cantered head lights are more of a custom treatment, I've seen it in the past with a few notable hot rods but I thought it came off more of a show car than a real world hot rod.

Whether I like it or not shouldn't matter if you like it I say go for it. HRP

Do it. And swap the flathead for your spare Olds rocket.
