We've had (with the exception of one day last week of rain, big, fat snowflakes that didn't stick and cold) REALLY nice weather this fall. Sunny, temperatures in the 60's and 70's, perfect color touring weather. And, the fall colors have been spectacular for it too. I've been putting the cars away for a couple of weeks now, and keep getting them back out to go for that "last" ride almost every day. We took the wagon out for a color tour yesterday as it was deemed "too chilly" by my wife to take the roadster, went down a bunch of gravel roads so it was pretty dirty. I backed it out and washed it up this morning, then did the same with the roadster, which I'd driven home in a late October rain squall a couple of days before, so it was REALLY a mess. (As aside, driving fast in a ******* car doesn't keep you DRY in a downpour, and raindrops pelting your face at 60 mph is like being shot with BB's, but it was still fun, and really, only my hair got wet. A full face helmet would make it more comfortable, but I digress...) This afternoon it's gotten up to the low 60's, so I'm going to take the roadster out for a little tour. I think my wife is going to p***, but maybe I'll go pick up my buddy and we'll take little ride before snow flies. We'll be migrating south for winter pretty soon, I can't take the roadster because we haven't yet gotten a carport built, I can't leave a ******* car out all winter and I can't leave an enclosed trailer in the driveway (or I'd simply use it as a portable garage and workshed), so I'm trying to get as much seat time in as possible before we go. Hopefully next season we'll have shelter for the car(s) and I'll take something down, I'll be busy with home improvement projects enough to keep me busy.
Pretty much every weekend for the last 3 were "the last one", but, its suppose to be nice this weekend as well. Going for that what might be the last ride of the year for a few weeks now. I don't mind. Maybe next week will be the end? My coupe is just getting tucked into the corner of the heated garage this year, so I can put it in there the day it starts to snow, and is sticking on the ground, or until the temps drop into the low 40s (it gets a bit too cool to be comfortable in the car then). Until the weather gets too bad, I'm going to enjoy it every chance I get. My truck will be my winter driver this year. Fortunately, I'm retired, so if the weather is really bad, I will sit in my house and look out the window. If I have to go someplace, we still have my wife's car.
Awesome that you’re still driving them. we took the old girl out this past weekend and took Christmas card photos in the leaves. This weekend is supposed to be nice again and I might try to get to the drag strip one more time.
I feel bad for those who live where the cars have to be away for the winter. That would drive me nuts.
...I drive mine even when it's cold, they all have good heaters, but only when the roads are dry... gotta get a cruz in this weekend yet, sposed to be nice.
We had one of the best falls we've had in years this year in the PNW. But it suddenly switched off instantly and went from low 80's one day to low 50's and rain the next day. Been raining and low 50's ever since, so both of my cars haven't been outside in over 2 weeks now. Still need to do the winter storage thing, but keep hoping for another decent day, with no results.
