Looking for anyone who has a Ford Car with a Y-Block that has done an AOD swap. I have a 1959 and looking for advice with TV cable, kickdown, column shifter, speedo cable attachment.

Called Lokar but they just made me more confused.

I am hoping that the column shift can be made to work but it's a PRNDL

There’s a 52-59 social group here that would probably have an answer, depending on the year of your car. There’s also members with AOD’s on the Ford Barn and yblocksforever. Give them a try.

I added an extra detent when changed transmissions. Lengthen the one at the firewall and shortened the one on the transmission. F3CB80AF-B47D-4F61-8E62-E6737B85375C.jpeg

As to the speedometer cable, I bought an adapter off eBay that allows use of the old style cable. You use the later style gear that fits the transmission, the adapter bolts right in then you screw the cable on.

There are numerous sites that tell how to set the TV cable. I made my own carb bracket since I am running a Summit carb. The bracket is easy to make, you just want to make sure the cable travels the same distance as the throttle cable pulls. If you are lucky enough to be running a carb that the aftermarket makes the carb bracket for you can skip making one and use theirs. Lokar sells a cable kit that a lot of folks use, I used the factory cable that was on my transmission.

I’m using a GM column, but your column should work fine. Since it only has six positions, you would have OD and Drive, but not 2 or 1, if that matters to you. You could always add a couple of detents to your shift gate for the lower gears. You may have to change the length of the column or transmission lever, or may not. Only way to know for sure is hook it up and feel the detents. I used a bell crank setup on mine, I adjusted it until it felt right, then locked it down.
