i tried doing a search because i know it's been asked before. i don't know if i'm not entering the right keywords but it keeps coming back no matches found.

will a 7.50/16 bias ply look good on a 4 inch wide wheel? or would i be better off finding a set of 5 inch wide wheels. coker sells a 16 x 6 inch wheel with matching centers to the 40 ford 16 x 4's i have for the front. is 6 inches wide getting too wide?

and if anyone can link me to the recent post that had pics of 30-31 coupes with 7.50/16's on the rear, i'd appreciate it
    thanks

    I think you should run 6" wheels with 7.50X16 tires. I'm running 6" rears and 4" fronts......Mike

hemifarris, very nice what tire size on the front of your car?

  6. 4" rims will be pushing it, I won't say that they won't fit but I would not recommend it. You would be better off withg a 5.5-6" rim. If I can help with any thing else just let me know.:)

I just mounted a pair of 7.50-16 Excelsors on 6 inch So-Cal wheels and they look right.

you'll get a thousand different answers, but that's good- best you can do is look at the options and see which is best for you

here's mine on 4" rims. Look good to me. If I had the choice, I'd widen these wheels to 4.5 or 4.75" then it would be just about perfect IMO

and here's that link you requested:

I am running 7.60 x 16" Farstones on my Deuce highboy coupe........I got a pair of 5" wide Ford Pickup wheels....same as '48 Lincoln car wheels I believe.... mine are off a '47 Ford pickup truck.....

I would not run them on 4" wide wheels........go at least 5" or 6" wide.....

Here are mine on wide five, 5" wide truck rims, I think you could get away with 6" but not much wider without concaving the centers and getting outside edge wear, if you care, If memory serves me correctly most 7.50x16 byas plies were mounted stock on 5 to 5.5 inch wheels.

Ya know, while we're on the subject of 750x16's... does anyone have an overall measurement of the width of the tire at it's widest (side wall or whatever is sticking out)? A ball park is okay, I also realize that will vary depending on rim, so an average/estimate would be okay. Thanks chaps!

My 750-16 Firestone white wall on a 5" wide rim measures 8" at the widest point measured accurately.
