At our shop every old guy wants to paint his car red. Just what the world needs.....another red sports car.

I personally hate brown. There ought to be a law.

The very popular gray, - cement, and moon rock. They look like polished primer. I can't understand why people think that color is neat.

I had a good friend (now deceased) with a yellow '56 Chevy and we always sang "We all live in a yellow Chevrolet" when he drove by...

Purple. Any purple. Just can’t look at a purple car without thinking of creepy singing dinosaurs.
When I was last in the market for a car, there was one listed locally that was nice. Really nice. Priced way lower than it should have been, and not too far of a drive to go pick it up. But it was purple.

I bought one in resale red instead, so I’m isn’t not know what I’m talking about.

This reminded me of something that may give you guys a chuckle. I know this is a way different color than the aforementioned gray. But, the "polished primer" remark brought this to mind. The first time my car was modified was when this color was brand new(Chrysler A5). Dad liked the color... REALLY liked the color. I think he painted 3 or 4 of his vehicles this color in the span of 2 years or so. One of my Uncles just shook his head and told Dad "I can't understand why you paint everything with that damned shiny primer?" :D

  9. I've never had a yellow hot rod but if the right Model a pickup or coupe came along I would consider it, something along the lines of canary yellow. HRP

I won't buy a black car so I guess it stands to reason I wouldn't paint a car black! When you live where you have to drive 1/4 mile lane out of my place I would have a dusty car all the time, so no way!

  13. Dick, my old beater is very old black but since it rarely sees water unless it rains, it has a nice dirty patina. :D HRP

  14. My 56 Pontiac was originally the same two colors, fortunately the guy I bought if from painted it Matte Black, but did not paint the jams, so I was reminded what color it was originally every time I opened the doors! Sold it the same way I bought it!

    God Bless

    Around 1967 I painted my 57 Chevy 150 Business Coupe, 348, T10 4 speed, bright yellow.
One of my first trips down main St. Placerville, two friends, Kevin and Richard traveling the opposite direction,
stopped, got out of their car, Capture 57 (2).JPG waved their arms and yelled "TAXI"

I have wanted to paint a car periwinkle but just because I like the name. o_O

Pink. Reason why? I don't like it on a car.

You seem to be down to three base colors, yellow, green, and violet. What color is your car?
