Similar design for Hedman headers, for a corvette with side pipes, for sale on another website.

Those are Hedman 4 tube headers. They made them in single down tube...two tube and 4 tube. The 4 tube is the most expensive and rarest...not sure if yours are earlier or later than this ad...but I think yours were called big tube..

Picture how they would exit if you switched the sections after the 4 pipe flange..they would be
heading outwards and would offer more uses...

I enlarged the pics, always select full image when posting pics especially if you are looking for ID help. I agree with the Hedman headers identification. The generator bracket looks real different to me. Also if the lower parts were on the opposite headers they look like 58-64 Xframe chev maybe?

Mark...the generator/alt mount was modified from stock Hedman.

They are definitely Hedman Hedders. Hedman used 1/4" x 2" hot roll for the flanges, they were drilled in a jig and the ports were hole sawed. Those look like the later version of the 2-piece '55-'57 Chevy header but the bottom/collector part looks like it's pointing in a strange direction. Could be the X frame version with the bottoms installed differently to fit something else as someone said. It looks like the bottoms have been on there a while.
They did make an alternator bracket like that, arc welded on and ground. But I think it was on the later Corvette and big car headers, IIRC. They might be big car after the X frames, '65-'67?
Black Panther's catalog page is too early, we need one from a little later.

1967, just two years before I got there. I left Cyclone and was hired by Hedman to help create a line of 4-tube headers to compete with Cyclone, ****** and Doug’s. I worked with George Lane to build new prototypes and all of the fixtures and tooling including tooling to make four tube collectors. I also did all of the custom headers and zoomies for cars we sponsored. Fun times.
We got back truck loads of those unsold early style headers and they were just unboxed and tossed in the s**** metal bins. Ugh. When I think about that it makes me sick. I saved a few sets, but back then I was all about performance and to me those were just tubing manifolds. I probably still have one or two of those weld-on alternator brackets upstairs in my shop.

Thanks for the help guys, Im still not seeing these same headers I have, not at all like the ones in the Hedman ad. I have not been able to find any pictures of this style header anywhere. Most seem to agree they are Hedman but there has to be a picture somewhere advertising these headers so I know for sure.

I’d say since Bob worked there and said they were, I’d go with it.

$125.00 for a set of headers! Ridiculous! Then you add on another $10.00 for shipping. What is the world coming to? o_O Sorry, I forgot when I was for a second. :(

Alan....$125 in 1967 was a ****load of money. Adjusted for inflation it equals $1059 today. Yikes...thats probably why they're so rare to find nowadays.

It looks to me like the top photo in the Bell catalog is the same as OP's photo. They are labeled H-CH14 and if you go down the list their application is 63-65 Vette and the cost is $125 for 4 tube.

Yep, and I was making $2.25 an hour re-building salvage aircraft. I didn't own a car but had a '56 Panhead that I paid $125 for in '66. Most of my money went on parts, beer, women and rent, when the landlord could catch me. It wasn't until a couple of years later and I got married to a good-looking blonde with 5 kids that I found out just how valuable money was.

Yep, there it is, H-CH14, a 4 tube for a '63-'65 Vette. Mystery solved.
$125 in 1968, when you consider; making or outsourcing flanges and collectors, cutting, bending, re-cutting, ***embling, welding, grinding, cleaning and painting, all by hand with no automation, then including reducers, bolts and gaskets, they were fairly priced.

How much were people paying to have headers built for hi-perf/custom applications in 67?

I had another 2-part Hedmans in my '66 Nova. Only the driver side was 2 piece, to fit around the clutch linkage.

The guys in my town, near LAX were paying around $150 for a custom set installed and hooked up to your exhaust system in ‘67-‘68.
I charged $100 for the first set that I built, (a 409 in a ‘55 Chevy - ugh), and my boss charged me $35 for the parts. When I quit I was charging $600-$900 for a V8 set depending on the tube size and degree of difficulty, that was sandblasted, sprayed with black heat paint and installed. The increasing cost of flanges, collectors and U-bends drove the cost up to the point where fewer people wanted to pay it.

He may sit on them for a bit then;). But if I wanted them for a car I had for the proper fit, I’d pay more than as-sold price, but nowhere near a grand.
