Hello,

That sure looks like the latest version of the famous “Painter’s Truck” from the 1958-60 seasons at Lion’s Dragstrip. Charlie Ettien's Yellow Ford Pickup was a daily driver. This photo color looks a little darker along with the different wheels than the latest from 2017.

It was one of those unusual hot rod trucks that worked all day doing his painting thing. Then on Saturday morning, it showed up at Lion’s Dragstrip for a whole day of racing. Sometimes, the tech committee allowed the truck to run with his full truck bed full of work related items. In actuality, it was a way to give more traction to the empty bed of a truck on the dragstrip. Strategically placed weight over the rear wheels made things work better.

My brother was always impressed at seeing the Yellow Ford pickup in the pits and racing. The supercharger plus the Hemi motor was awe inspiring for an everyday work truck.


Then 59 years later, I was at the set up days for the first 2017 Lion’s Dragstrip Museum opening. It certainly was a surprise to see/hear the yellow truck in the back parking area.

Then, as the pre set up days continued, it was in full regalia parked next to another familiar face…

 

Not a hot rod, but it's cool.

 

Kurt sold it recently, and I believe it is still in the St. Louis area..
