Hi there, so here i am, from occasional lurker to member.....i'm hoping that i can get more info on what seem to be a rare car nowadays, a pair of Lincoln Capri's that i look after for a buddy thats Stateside......a '53 318 ci, with 3 speed hydra, and what i'm sure is a ****er rear. It has a tag with 43 over 13 on. The '54 is a long term entrant into the Mille Miglia ( Italy) and has been very successful over the last 8 years. Whoever built it knew what they were doing, it's got a lot of the parts that a Carrera Panamericana Lincoln would have, ie solid lifters, big brakes and a 4 speed hydra. Looks like a ford rear end too, maybe a 9 inch. The drum brakes are really wide.....this is my sticking point.....i have no idea what they're off. The shoes look the same as the stock '53 ones, but are around 3 and a 1/4 inches wide! Anyway, glad to be here.....i'd really like to get more info on modifying and any upgrades that anyone knows of....by all accounts there's not too many.....but, i'm sure you guys can point me on the right course. Thanks.
Welcome to the HAMB from Illinois, USA. That sound like a couple interesting Lincolns. Your question about the road racer might get more responses if you post it over here: https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/forums/the-hokey-***-message-board.5/
Thanks Phil, for the welcome and the advice.....duly noted, i will post up on the hokey *** message board, see what response i get.
