Technical 50-53 buick master cylinder and brakes

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 1950 Super Riviera, Sep 21, 2017.

  1. Not sure if anyone has covered this anywhere, but most auto parts stores don't sell new or rebuilt master cylinders for these old Buick's, but I work at O'Reilly Auto and have been cruising through our catalogue seeing what's available...we sell a rebuild kit for the master cylinder, which I purchased and used today and I'm really happy with it! Perfect brake pedal! We even had the rear wheel cylinders in stock which are the same from 1950 through 1973 GM full size cars which was real convenient. The fronts are 50 thru 53 only though and I could only find rebuild kits for them but they'll only be a day out! Better to have em and not need them, than need them and not have em! On looking up the wheel cylinders I had to look the car up as a 51, there was no listing for them under a 1950, although they are identical. Hope that helps some of you guys out! IMG_1343.jpg

  3. Old cars, you have to dig for parts. Look at alternate years, even different makes to find what we need. Good going.
