    Hey folks,
I kinda mentioned this under another thread, but I thought I'd give it it's own heading.
Has anyone used or heard any feedback about Speed and Sport Chrome in Houston? I've got a box full of goodies ready to ship off and turn shiney, but I thought I'd ask before I dropped them in the mail.

They do awesome work! They are kinda high $, but they do quality and in a reasonable time frame. On the walls of their office they have all these pics of autographed pics of customers and their cars that they've done chrome work for. And some fella named Leno had all sorts of pics up in there.

  5. i have used them here at the shop before. make sure tell them exactly what you want, if there is a bend you want taken out, if you want it show quality or if you want it fully polished because if you don't Creig will just put it out there and chrome it like it is. Don't expect them to call you when it comes in even if you tell them to. i always like to go over it with them before they plate it but you have to call them they won't call you. they are seriously behind at the moment i have a 35 ford grille at there place right know if has been there for 3 months. no call no nothing. when they say 15 day turn around don't belive it it won't happen. also if you want to talk to creig you have to call him between 2:30 and 4:00 or he isn't there. don't expect any favors either, i send him a bunch of work and he dosen't put me ahead of anyone. well anyways after all of that they do good chrome work but the only other thing is the polishing is just not there unless you tell him it is a show car even if it is not. that 35 grille is there for the second time only because if have gold colored marks on the face of it were the polisher didn't quite get it all, and there is still a bend in the bar were i told him to take it out so tell creig to watch it for you and tell to specificaly make it nice . oh yea they don't tell you prices before they get it and somtimes till after it is done unless you ask.

well that is enough babling for one day i guess it all comes down to is talked to crieg before you send it,call him the day after or keep calling untill he gets it. Go over everything with him get a price the second you talk to him and make sure you tell him you want it nice even if it is not a show car.

if you need to decifer what i just said you can call me 254-542-3399

here is a pic of a 34 grille he just did for me you can see the pitting in the side still and it took him 2 months to get it to me when it was supposed to be 15 days as ordered. nice chrome just the finish work is not quite there we had to finish polishing it.

Speed and sport is a very reputable shop. They have about an 18 day turnaround. "Emergency" jobs can be arranged at an upcharge. They do work for all sorts of cars including clasics, chrome frames for Hummers, and also do a good amount of Harley and other motorcycle work.

The walls of the place are plastered with Jay Leno thank you letters, so that should give you an idea of the type of clientele they have.

The prices are not on the low end but not exhorbitant either. The work they have done for me has been uniformly excellent. There were some parts I took in for my motorcycle that I figured would be orange peels at best but came back looking mirror smooth. I have been very pleased. They are at 713-921-0235 and the owner's name is Craig.
