History Do You Own A Car From The Year Of Your Birth (Purposely)?

I cannot justify spending what they are asking for a roller just to start with.

 

I like buying cars and loosing lots of money on them. So of course I have one of my birth year! A 1966 Cadillac Calais with 0 options. Nothing, nada, zilch, zero and bupkis.

 

Thought about it many times over the years. Never really like anything from 65, but my dad did have a 66 Fairline convertible that I liked. Kinda over muscle cars now at my age. Liking the older stuff more now.

 

yep... I purposely own a 1955 second series 3100 PU. It was born in the second half of 55 as was I.

 

Yes, I bought the 1942 FORD DLX 2DR because it was my birth year car!

 

Well, my 34 coupe & my 49 F-1 are my drivers. My 46 Sedan delivery (correct year) is a roller project just waiting in the wings for my attention. I better got off my ass & do something.

 

It's coincidental that I was born in 1940 and so was the convertible in my avatar, but I like that we're the same age. I intend to keep it forever or until I croak, whichever comes first.

 

My 64 Camino is 10 years older than me, bought it when I was 16. Nothing good or on-topic in 1974.

All of my old cars are older than me. If I got year of birth my choices would be '59 El Camino or Corvette. I don't need any more cars though.

I’m a 1974, the only thing I can think of from 74 that I’d want would be a Chevy pickup. I do have two Harleys from the year I graduated from high school.

When I was 16, I owned a 1940 Ford Flathead powered Ford Sedan Delivery. So, I was off by 4 years, as to the exact date for both of us. But, in thinking about me and 1940, my mom used to tell me that when she and my dad were still without children, she was thinking of 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls. (Wow, two “Jnaki-ettes” running around after we were grown… )

So, out pops my brother and became a real handful. Then 2 years later, he comes the other kid. Now, we laugh at the memory of that statement. But, she told me that after having the second child, me, she told my dad that was the "last one." It was too hard to handle two rambunctious kids and their “foibles…” meaning the two brothers were a handful… HA!

So, techincally, the idea in 1940 resulted in me getting a 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery as my first official, “bought with my own money” hot rod as a teenager.

And… there were no such things as “Jnaki-ettes” either…

 

lol, no, but I do own a house built the same year as my car....both 1957. I would have been 11 at that time.

 

I was born in 1957 but never owned a car from that year. I always wanted a car from the year my Dad was born. He meant a lot to me and that's why I bought my 1933 Chevy. I was able to get it on the road before he passed and he really enjoyed our rides on the back roads of New Hampshire together. I still think of him every time I drive it!

Have had several '62 Falcons; none currently; had a '62 MG, even a '62 VW... never liked the full size Ford from '62, the styling is just 'meh' to me. Nothing in the model year except the Falcon interests me, except maybe a big Dart with the 413 but that ain't gonna happen....

Yes. My 69 is the first car I ever bought. It rolled off the assembly line 2 weeks after I was born. Highly optioned car with a 427. I still have it and drive it often. My wife was also born in 69. Still have her also.

Yeah, a 1955 Bel Air. It has been in storage in project row for years, but between being the same age as me there is also the fact that the first hot car, I ever rode in was my uncle Doug's 55 in 68. dual quad 327,4 speed with tilt front end,64 Impala ss interior and hurst mag wheels. I was a car crazy kid by then and that ride sealed the deal for life. Now that I am retired, I hope to have it finished before we are both 70! lol Larry
