Let's see some sheet metal shaping

That came out nice. But everything you do comes out nice! I always wondered how those spikes were made. Now I know.

 

Update on the Kent bike seat, we have a good fit and now it's off to the upholstery shop..

 

Some of the smaller shaping projects i have been doing in the shop the last month or so. Did a small run of 30/31 door skins, 33/34 aluminum roof inserts, 33/34 aluminum deck lid skin, 49 ford hood patch, patched a miller indy car header, inner roof structure for a 50 ford i am correcting the chop, lotus 7 nose work, and some roadster nose work

I made a lower door patch for an off topic door last week. I was having trouble holding the dolly planishing out the weld and came up with this.
I drilled holes in the door jam on each end of the weld and stretched the wire inside to keep the dolly on target. It worked great!

Just takes a bit of .020” brass sheet... a touch of delicately applied hydraulic pressure... and a lotta time building tooling! Then a bit of solder, and tadaaaaa! It floats!

No English wheel or planishing hammer.
It's rough, just wanted to show that no special tools are required to make stuff. I did use the shrinker/stretcher on the bottom rim.
Every patch was made with hammer on dolly on this fender. The pock marks and waves attest to that.

Special tools only save time (and take the load off of my arthritic joints).

As you have elegantly shown, this can be done with the simple tools too!

Always a great thread with good ideas and results. But I think I’ll just admit my skill level and limit myself to working with aluminium foil! LOL

If a limited mobility, messed up dude like me can pull off stunts like this, so can you!

Never sell yourself short. Grab a hammer and a dolly, get yourself a chunk of metal and start smacking it!

 

Might be dumb but I needed some old "diamond plate" or should I say square plate...
I had to make some panels for my van...had to do it by hand first..then I had to make a little jig.

 

Nothing's dumb when it works.
Custom is the best.

I thought of it, but changed my mind. Trying to keep things similar to factory with them sticking out. Just not as much as the stock ones, they were out there alright.

multiple car shows on t.v....makes everything by hand, inside and outside of the car..really talented. Here is
