... since any kind of work let alone progress and really wish your alright and making it in a positive note , well I had to work on myself for the last 3 weeks due to that accident 10 years ago funny tomorrow is it's anniversary in my head it's like it just happened and a grand glory indeed has taken me this far instead of taking my life so I did start planning this project in a hospital bed back then so this is truly my miracle project my it took 5 years to get my hand back and everything else is still coming into place and I say this because I am a tool in this project this project is bigger than me and I'm proud to be it's chosen one so I make every bolt and screw count I just don't know any other way and I am amazed at the parts that have come my way towards this project and all vintage no catalog yet !! I know I said it before so let's get to now .
You never know who you meet when doing a build see I walked into the Auto Zone see if I could supply up you never know what a place has until you walk in their door and walk the aisles . I needed some sandpaper and couple cushioned sandpapers and that's what I got there it is good enough to satisfy the projects needs so as I walked to the counter one of the employees ( manager ) said he liked what was on my TShirt it was a string of F100's so I told him thank you and I got a couple '53 Flatheads I'm building and socking away '32 parts but who knows maybe I find a truck or a Shoebox it's still early in the build and he says to me , " Oh that's super I've got a Shoebox at home I'm not done with it yet got some problems with it's 327 I put in it ! " So we talked for few minutes he showing me on my phone and when I saw his car picture I told him a place he can get some real vintage parts local he has been catologing it thru his project and going to Pomona and Long Beach swaps , well I thought today I go back and offer a hand with the 327 it keeps breaking stuff so I ain't going to charge anything it's great to know someone as yourself at just a walk thru a door .
Well here's the Edmunds manifold and polished more on the fuel pump also the manifold is coming out good getting all the pock marks I can out of it cross sanding with 1000 then clean with MEK on a.detail rag then again and .... ..... .....
...then fiddled with the 2000 and the 3000 and it ain't ready yet for 5000 got alot of hours to go it's just good to be here I'll get myself in shape for porting the rest of Flo and matching up this manifold in a week or two and things are going to slow down for the next 9 weeks on this project as I got welding class to coach and Im going to upgrade my AWS certs see COVID is over and the good jobs want higher grading of Certs now see during COVID they take any certs so gotta stay with the times ya know so have a good evening and it's good to be back with you keep your foot in it !

It took awhile for me to answer your question as I was still in denial yet I knew it was an issue but to what extent well I thought alot on it and I probably would have let it go with a new set of rings if it were to be a very occasional driver but I don't do occasional too well so as it feels no deeper than .002 " I do know it's dug down there deeper than .002 " and if I let it go it's just going to get deeper and deeper and I'm going to know this and it's a bothersome issue so we going to go .060 " with the Merc crank . I didn't trust .040 over since it's a rust issue I want all the rust gone from the cylinders forever and sixty will do it and still be a small bore engine

    Hi Everyone !

Today the WCFB and Edmunds Intake got some more work you can see how first I used a Dremel with a funneled very fine wire Dremel attachment this one was good till it was a nub and used the nub to clean the corners and inside the jets I had already run fine wire through the jets like I did on the Chandler Grove earlier so after the I used the scrub brush on the die grinder around and inside the venturi system as much as one should I keep the tool moving around I'm not out to transfer material here just clean up just spiffy up a carburator to restore it's original condition and install a master rebuild kit and other necessary parts .
So after the scrub brush attachment I went back to the Dremel and used the softest wooly attachment that came in an Amazon grab bag with attachments designed for 18k rpm . It's a steady hand for sure you don't want any nicks on the venturis so glad to know I still have a touch today !
Did some more on the Edmunds piece started with some 3000 I still have the left side to do it's coming around and it's time to go I'm on my way to Alan's look for a choke assy ( if not I don't really need one in L.A ) and some idle jets that are probably unnecessary with the Clay Smith 282-2 cam but it's unnecessary things that make it a complete project like the 2 bbl hats I got over the weekend at Vets Swap of Unnecessary Things ! Lol and the identical twin prewar oil pressure gauges from Lostmind one for Freddie one for Flo to be plumbed direct on block .
If this all bores you you must be using carb dip and the internet Lol well on this thread we are in the business of acquiring grubby old unwanted parts and putting them together I call it cantankerous fun and as Spock would say , " Most logical Cap'n " .
    Everyone enjoy your evening ! IMG_20221012_105045459.jpg IMG_20221012_105803383.jpg IMG_20221012_103240376.jpg

Hope your day is good and positivity at least touches you somehow .

So got more done on the WCFB it's coming around as it should for not rebuilding the throttle plate assembly . Found the primary jet needles are size 125 and their jet seats are 155 and the secondaries jets in the bottom of the secondary bowl read 120 and 187 both numbers are stamped on each jet yet jet size is 120 not 187 . Hmmm interesting number to use on secondary jets , 187 ! Kind of creepy I better put some dice on the throttle pedal for good luck on that ! Actually 187 is the outer bore 120 the inner bore .
So today we continue with cleaning with the Dremel and the die grinder the White Cast Air Horn is looking excellent and found that after I got done using the 3000 sanding pad on it I cleared all the porous cavities with the Dremel fan wheel extra fine attachment and the shine really came out . It definitely cleared small particles from the surface . Also in the pictures you see the nub attachment in the Dremel which I use as a duster in all the crevices and inside the jets and I save these nubs from other broom type Dremel attachments I have used up and sure come in handy and make a difference as you can see under the carbs main body and inside the main body also .
I was super cautious with the throttle plate assembly it really should be properly rebuilt so I need more research and perhaps another throttle plate so I can disassemble and measure for manufacturing throttle body rebuild kits .
That will be awhile so meantime the assembly screws got a cleaning on the bench wire wheel the nickel in old steel products is amazing you see them on the rag .
The highlight of the day was well you see everything on the rag well the die grinder had it's extra fine wire broom attachment on it and it snagged into the rag at 12-17 thousand rpm and a couple Dremel attachments flew around but can you believe all the screw stayed on the bench still grouped together ! And the throttle rod clip also ! First thing I thought was , " Well there goes 65 years ! " It's slow and amazing and that's worth every hour I spend on this just look ...

    Everyone have a grand evening ! IMG_20221013_114550095_HDR.jpg IMG_20221013_112403151.jpg IMG_20221013_124416182_HDR.jpg IMG_20221013_141021477.jpg IMG_20221013_123843782.jpg IMG_20221013_124155770_HDR.jpg

Private . I helped Manny build 6 weld booths with a clamp tree in each , really ergonomic for all weld positions concerning stick and MIG and my fav NR232 FCAW ( my dragon ) .
    Curriculum was to consist of
LA City Certs 3&4G stick and MIG .
We hope we are experiencing post-covid hiccups . We offer this training for private and charter schools . It will be good as our workforce kicks in . The school is ready , nice classroom all new equipment and learning material too in a great location in Signal Hill which is home to a few Hot Rod shops I don't have shots of the classroom yet but we filled the walls with welding and safety charts . School districts out to Lancaster are interested and stay in communication so anytime I figure another year and it is an AWS certified test site

    Hi Everyone

It's Friday ! And hope yours is a good one indeed . I just got here so just looking around the bench and hey I wonder if ' The Nub ' will clean the rust from the air cleaners we just got from one of our friends last weekend at Vets Stadium . Personally I've always called these units ' 2 bbl Hats ' . So it got the rusty freckles off the chrome top and is working well on the stainless neck . See the hat on the right in second picture . I will post more as I get going on the WCFB or the Edmunds intake . Last few posts have been posted a couple hours after I leave the parlor I try and post as I work processes cause I believe in posting The Good , The Bad and The Ugly but my shoulder and neck are acting up got Ortho on the 25th I had to quit riding the bike for now but do know I post truthful events 110% and always will because you and I both need to know what does the job and what does not so so far today it's At The Moment Posts and I will begin letting you know if posted later .Have a good Friday Everyone should be back later today with more and Thank You 1665763800710304410170003253811.jpg 16657642019255894672898363619095.jpg Funny what you can do with a bench full of dirty stuff . I was joking to myself that this is like Bob Villa ha ! ' The Nub ' lol Order yours NOW !

So it didn't take long for brain activity to kick in ! Now one of them is a 4 bbl Hat . Man it looks like it can fly ! I'm thinking a balled screen element inside and dice on a triangulated mounting screw . Golly what's next ! ...

    A Good Day To Everyone

We have reached the assembly stage of this WCFB and I say this one because I have yet to find another with same systems on it if you look at the end of the choke plate rod/stem it does look broken off looking at the picture of where the choke assembly is to mount you can see clearly the shear marks at the end of the rod/stem .
Most of these were General Motors so was this a secondary carb on a dual carb setup I don't think so and I think the Chrysler/DeSoto installed WCFB's have a. Starter Switch attached as shown as #12 and it's parts in the Parts List as shown in the picture . Most likely a Buick unit I've not fully researched ( one day ... ) .
For assembly there is an order and first is too install the air horn/main body gasket you can see in the picture I did not foresee this as the gasket does not fit over the vacuum piston so a second time for me and when installing the gasket it does fit tight in the area around the Accelerator Pump/Jet assy area . It's suppose to fit tight you will see why , then a little positioning with the Primary Needle Jet Assembly and the Vacuum Piston that hangs on the bottom of the Needle Jet Hangar ( I call it ) so with needle jets removed from the hangar is safer so you don't bend your needle jets I slide the bare hanger thru it's slot and do put it in the right way it has a tab it's actuator assembly rides on ( you'll figure it out in a try or two ) and then holding the vacuum Piston at an angle to it's true position on the hanger I used a Mini Stubbed Needle nose and snapped into place . Don't try bending the tab on the piston it may be brass put it doesn't bend and is suppose to fit tight on the hanger while installing it then pops in and hangs freely on the hanger like it's suppose to . I picture it for you to give you an idea of the positioning I used . Then flip the air horn around and install the needle jets and the float assemblies and I'm just going to slather some Marvel Mystery on the Accelerator Pumps leather plunger it's pliable and no markings on it so another sign this carburator was rebuilt and shelved many years ago . What a find indeed hiding way back up high behind about 20 other 4 barrel carbs . That shelf is 35-50 years old so it kept this unit in great shape . It's an easy carb just thought I'd let Everyone know about quirks and the Vacuum Piston is one of them and if any more on this assembly process I will let you know . That reminds me one of the most used tools in this project is a child's lunch drink straw for clearing out the channels in the main body . Everyone have a good day ! 16658512405229096778254884246859.jpg 16658513215927474097148394628072.jpg 16658516662156371658379253715892.jpg

... ok we are done with the carburetor in this case the CARbureTER # 2016 and took another hour and a half to clean up the Edmunds intake it's starting to look proper really pretty good for an early Edmunds casting and matches pretty well with the EAB-B's I really thought the intake would clash but looks proper vintage so it is all done Hallelujah ! Yes back to the block tomorrow !
Have a good and safe evening , 16658741696168756462756274687142.jpg 16658742680368527014197564562108.jpg 16658743499922082403833234556648.jpg enjoy a relaxing weekend Everyone and thank you for your support !

    Hi Everyone !

Hope your week is good for you and your family and friends .

Organizing parts already acquired and parts from both Freddie and Flo to get the most functional with best integrity for a vintage build and recall Flo had a low mileage rebuild before being decommissioned 25-30!years ago so I have decided to use that oil pump I will go thru it shave the plate for better pressure if needed clean it and reassemble it . Decided to use Freddie's oil pan it's a flatter bottom what has been identified as the truck oil pan yes it's cubic inch measurement is larger trough area by 12% sounds good to me so we will utilize that oil pans pickup also . Also got out the distributor , water pumps ( one got chipped at hose connector ) and other necessary parts on the bench for assembly preparation . Everything will get cleaned with MEK and we into another long step bringing the engine closer to the highway .
Most important here is to have a good weekend look out for family and friends and pets and smile at what you have today even if you gotta look in the mirror 'cause you count too !
Thank you for your time and consideration of this thread 16663729500036652536526084374963.jpg 16663730954618261533671621529619.jpg

    Hi Everyone ,

Yes the weekend is here and time to do what we like to do , I really wanted to go to the circus today for kicks with Erika but well perhaps when I'm done here and so just finished playing the game of , ' Can We Make Or Use With Confidence ' anything you see on the bench ?
Flo's passed all the tests so far with smooth action , cleaned up nice on the outside and still has oil inside so with the pickup/screen assembly off , I put my finger over the orifice/opening on the pump body and spun it's drive gear , then stopped still holding my finger over it , counted to 5 then let go and had good resistance upon removing my finger and it made a nice ' thunk ' hollow sound strong enough to pick up oil . You will figure out which way to twist the drive gear the wrong way will push air out of the pumps body against your finger . I'm not going to take the gear housing plate off and toy with something that is from a low mileage Piston Supply rebuild so we are just going to restore the pickup from Freddie it's got holes in the bowl and the screen is from Flo and cleaning up nicely with MEK and patience . Those holes I'm going to weld up if I can get it clean enough to do so and thought of JB Weld but that's a real temperature extreme area of the engine and I already picture a small chunk of it jammed in the oil pump gears that's kind of tripped out thinking though it would just end up against the outer screen at most Lol . Guess I still got Uncle Dick over my shoulder and I can hear him saying now , " I told you not to waste your money on those ! And your still doing Flatheads ! When ya gonna learn ! I got better at the shop for ya ! 1000hp for the same money as your putting in that boat anchor ! Throw it all in the harbor ! Uncle Dick was a great guy always after more horsepower !
    Have a grand day ! Hopefully it's Circus Time ! 16664679577895355449616553950201.jpg 16664680139372087726029663577799.jpg

I'm going to run a full belly/rocker pan under the complete underside of the engine bay so thinking I'll just run the bell cover yes I degutted it and line it with this stainless mesh I found in the street funny the stuff you pick up riding a bicycle got load chain and all sorts of hardware , picked up that Hardy glove also anyways the name here is Flo so less air cleaner is best . Bet you were able to burn your clutch quicker too !!

Lol. That little 221 needed all its HP to move the truck, don’t ever recall trying to get in it. Who knows tho, could have set a driveway land speed record (limited to my driveway ofcourse) ;)

Was on a friend's dirt driveway with my early build '34 truck/w 221 was all stock except cross members cut out so had hanging pedals well I revved and dumped and the brake pedal rod fell out of the master and remodeled my friends kitchen pushed the whole kitchen wall in .
From then on no one parked near me at high school and truck was rightfully named Tony's Tractor ! Lol . Love those 221's real baby's and just keep going smooth .
I'd argue with the Frenchie owners and 8BA owners that their Flatheads we're phoney I still consider the 221 to be THEE Real Flathead !

A Good Day For Everyone !

Valve guides were $4.50 each at beginning of this year and just checked now is $7 I'm sorry but I don't see them made of titanium or any type of Martian Metal so I went to the shelf for the box of valve train parts we got from Goldenidolcustoms either Jack or John both names are used during the transaction and they all looked very good condition speckled lightly with rust dust so they all in great shape now and yes did measure the lifters sides so no funneling and Jack said they have been on the shelf and I really inspected them well so they do pass my double inspection I am happy to be able to use them . Yes these are the exhaust I will get new retainers and cups . One last test I used one drop of high grade cutting oil on each stem then slipped the guide over the stem and look you can pick up the assembly and valve stays with the guide . Intakes will have the 1.7"s so that will come about later I'm going to wrap these up and put them with the manifold and carb .
    Everyone have a nice evening 16666495956546361587999400648021.jpg 16666499875377850152389023352506.jpg

    Hi Everyone ' Onward Ho !! '

Here's to another day of health to you and yours also .
We have a mystery here it's the unknown true valve lift of this Clay Smith 282-2 grind cam .
George said his cam I can just put it in so I didn't ask details I figure he meant with the solid lifter setup and Alan & Dick ( machinist/builder would like for me to use the Johnson Type Adjustable Lifters and I can see why as we are going to utilize the Chevy 1.7 Intake Valves . This is my first late model flathead and the earlier ones I have done were all Stock Factory Spec Engine Builds but from what I am learning here from these Original Hot Rod guys is that I really don't want to toy around with Solid Lifters using any variation of an enhanced Cam Lobe Profile .
I remember as a kid Uncle Dick telling me it's easier to design a cam's profile on the opening side of the lobe but closing can be tricky ( can get bouncy ) and I am sure that every thousandth does counts here so I really want to know what I have here for Actual Valve Lift.
On paper I calculated .340 " for lobe height so I've just cleaned the blocks cam journals and old bearings and as soon as I can find the dial indicator we can get going and mock up a valve or two for actual measuring and makes sense to me to measure from the top of the valve head while closed then open the valve and measure again so I will edit this post later first I have to solve the mystery of " Where did I put the dial indicator !?? " One mystery always leads to another ! 16668053409833039196535689916400.jpg 16668054158586734323171543613820.jpg Well you can't put a 1.800 " cam journals in a 1.780 " i.d cam bearing . So upon the rebuild Piston Supply did turn the cam journals as they reground the lobes on the 8BA cam I removed and wrapped up . So at least we found out something today !
Everyone have a nice afternoon !

A Good Day For Everyone !

Yes it's time to really start breathing here an exciting morning indeed as I spoke with Dick my machinist a very good one for the Flatheads and he has one in his roadster also he really enjoys what he does I can tell and informs me today not to worry about the last month being lost due to my medical just keep at it and told him of progress made and parts acquired and what I need to get and when I mentioned the gasket set he said , " don't worry about that just bring me all the parts to be machined I'm just doing the machining and your doing the building so make sure you get everything I need and keep doing everything you can do on the engine so I don't have to do it and charge you it does add up ! "
So instead of January I am going to bump it up to December now for dropping off the engine and it's prepped components so it'slike I said yesterday it's ' Onward Ho ! ' and today we are prepping the crankshaft and it almost does polish up it's only at 20 under on rods and 10 under on mains . The thrust journal does look like it experienced galling or welding real fine cracks I am leaning towards lack of oiling but it has been machined and polished over then very little actual service time then shelved ?? I go by what I see and draw up my options as to what happened to this crank I want and need to know everything of it and we know little so I will photo to show you and the front counterweight it's arm meeting the journal looks like it may have met with a curb but I have read that alot of these cranks that were scrap at the factory they took the time to scrap/repair them at the factory then use them . Questions questions there is more as I got this as a REAL Mercury crank . Is it ? Does it have any Identifying qualities ? Ahahaha there is one so far the front counterweight is stamped F2301 . That would be December 23 1951 .
Hey wait a minute we have 23 also stamped on Flo's block at the Bell housing area and same with one of the heads and here is the clincher - The number 23 is Erika and I's lucky number now how did all that happen !!?

Oh yes just remembered see last picture this is how you do it forget all that online Identity doodoo just measure the counterweight as all late Merc cranks 49-53 measure 6 " 1666895533628447272591772171158.jpg 16668955743856889655614318596320.jpg 16668956410292067424020249499771.jpg 16668956778278661810521587032894.jpg 16668965078818759140768098700408.jpg

    Hi Everyone ,

Hope all are well and planning anchoring for awhile I think it's a good winter to get out the card table and the cue sticks Is stay out of the casino some like that too well after I walked in here today to a crooked bakery shelf full of heavy flathead parts I started emptying the shelf to fix it and spilt the oil out of an oil bath air filter unit it went everywhere I forgot it was still full of very old oil so I cleaned that up pushed the crooked shelf out of my view to fix it ' Another Day ' and picked up the Dremel to clean the crank some more and it went from dysfunctional to a complete death so I'm just looking at it all with wonder and thinking how happy I am to know it's Friday and I'm just going to quietly close and lock the place and tiptoe away from it all and have a good weekend and hope you have a good weekend too ! 16669819360354968538694291791271.jpg

Hi Freddie. The ugly curb rash on the cranks was part of the manufacturing process. The cranks were cast more than one in a bunch at a time, all joined together. The ugly broken looking area is exactly that, where the cranks were broken off the central sprue. Think of it like parts in a model kit.
Shame about the oil filter. "It happens".

Hi Mart thank you now I can put the corners of my mouth back up where they should be !
I like that better than the reject brought to life theory . Thank you for taking the time Mart my what a busy guy you've been ! Great going and my week long break is over now I just got back from Hobby Lobby very nice and comes with a flex-extension probably be great in the block for $23 plus tax it is just a tad longer than my Dremel so let me get going I have a machinist wanting to retire when he is through with Flo . A Good Day For All ! Thanks for checking in with us and Everyone also ! It's time to Make Thing Grand Again lol
Now editing : How could I forget such a thing as Pistons !! Seem to be chrome moly rings too !
Yes the tag says 1961 but I don't think are for these pistons but tag was in this box . I can throw a blower on her now !! Also picked up an Extra Fine sanding kit has 320 - 12,000 grit yes 12,000 ! from Hobby Lobby also

    Hi Everyone ,
We have serious parts on the bench we are cleaning and inspecting you can never inspect too many times with rotating assemblies I triple check and if necessary take an average from the three measurements . I also have the Bench Mounted Inspection Light and a Magnifying Glass and a Jewelers/hobby headset/LED equipped Spectacles with head strap . The head strap looks kinda mental I'm gonna keep it in the box I'm not wearing Oxfords today .
Also today we are going to break in the new WEN Rotary Tool and that doesn't mean we are going to burn it up at 32,000 RPM till it smells . It does come with instructions and they are going with the head strap for now but if you never used one please do read the instructions and abide by the instructions as Everyone deserves to go home happy .
We have another new friend today it is an accessory bit by Dremel it is good for 15,000 RPM and is Nylon head designed for cleaning and polishing so exciting to try on the cast iron crank and th aluminum pistons . I don't think I should use MEK to clean the bit as that will harden the bristles according to my knowledge of materials and chemicals so first we are going to see how the nylon bit works on the crankshaft since aluminum will imbed in the nylon bristles easier than cast iron and we don't want aluminium transfered into the crank . If this nylon bit passes certification by the Flathead God's lol we will continue to use it on the connecting rods next and aluminum pistons last . Everyone have a good afternoon and away we go ,
! I would like to post later in the evening as to how this all works out . The WEN comes with a Flex Shaft I gotta read those instructions for that lol lol !! 1668197508980321908008455068216.jpg 16681975594588567200273444088484.jpg the two journal on the left are as prepped as any of them are going to get . So the process in stepped order goes like this :
    WEN used lightly
Clean with MEK on Handi-Wipe cloth
Use stainless wire brush ( soft-med bristles )
    Clean again
    Use WEN
    Clean again
    Lightly oil journal

We have two journals to go so we are closer to the starting grid ! It's off to the races !!

1668450935098706542205961987730.jpg Hi Everyone , we hope your weekend was grand I rested yesterday so today decide to show you just what is the problem here and you know when you start picking parts some you don't realize will not fit till you get to fitting it all together which is what we are doing here along with reinspecting all parts and more cleaning . This is not an engine with it's parts anymore it's an engine project that is building itself and the aluminum timing gear is not going to work with the Mercury cranks gear . I've read a thread on here a HAMBer posted you have to change both gears out when upgrading to aluminum cam gear and you can see why so it's off to Alan's maybe one is inside a tire or on top of the roof ! Maybe I get the one off the engine he is putting together ! Lol Don't think I make it down the driveway to far Lol .
So you can see in the picture both gears are cut for left hand teeth they never mesh running parallel!
Saturday we finished the journals lubed and blanket for a two month nap .
I don't want to but safer and smoother if I have Dick shave another .005 " from the rod journal that will put Rods at 30 under and same done on the main journals will put them at 20 under if I recall my old measurements correctly . It can only be what it is and so far everything here is quite the survivor I do say now it's an interesting project . The details must be precision and proper or I'm wasting my time and money . So off to Alan's and the postal service has a delivery a brand new in the box Standard Dual Point Kit for 8BA distributors from Lostmind yes it's from that time era . That will be a nifty project when engine is getting a full treatment .
Have a grand day and week also Everyone sorry not more progress but this is REAL not you tube . Gotta go

Great things occuring we now have our feet into a car build we don't know which one now I'm getting kind of antsy and looking for anything with wheels that will hold the engine and that fever came around yesterday at Alan's as I got a left tooth cam gear from him . I thought what is needed next and that would be a transmission and I've wanted an overdrive and Alan has trans lined up and standing like soldiers on pallets all indoors and so I took a nice innocent walk through the transmission patch when all of a sudden there was one with white marker on it said 53 Ford and the word good and I see the solenoid actuator it's got the hump on the long tail housing and that tranny looks sleek I pictured it on my head dressed with Cornflour Blue Metal Flake so I put a hand on it and turned the output shaft for about 30 seconds it is as smooth as can be and shift levers passed feels tight and not even a scratch on the case .
So my next thought was well now I can put all this in a 53 anything Ford this riding a bicycle thing ain't going to last forever it's healthy and in LA it's deadly so I won't be stubborn about being adament on the 32 Tudor but that is still the project I am collecting parts for but I want it light if running ONLY one engine cause I'm not running two engines with the 53 tranny with me that would last about a hundred yards of rubber and be parked and I ain't into that . So progress !

So the crank is done I spent the morning on it's front assembly we need a oil seal sleeve gonna get a full donut setup talked with some Shoebox owners works great so it is and with the proper left-hand tooth cam gear decided to restore the crank gear that is on there and worked out quite well . I've worked on alot of machinery and ships so it's just a must do for me I took out the pits and dings with hand files by smoothing each tooth top edge smoothing the sides and the troughs and depitting 4 teeth that had been 9n the bottom side soaked in water in the oil pan for 25 years and polished it up with the wire wheel in the die grinder and the WEN and cleaned up the snout with the wire wheel and working 2000 grit like polishing your shoes . I straightened the oil slinger cleaned up the pulley that took 2 hours it's grooves are showing signs of being a pulley again and polished it's inner sleeve and now it slides on and off the crank this is very important in a build . Now what did I do with the crank bolt it's in a box marked Flo somewhere ...

    After thought :
The machinery and ship auxillary units do not spin at 4500 rpm like a Flathead can so I am sure Dick is going to change out the crank gear he considers every pit as a crack and that is absolutely correct . That is an irreplaceable cam that is going in the engine I would commit myself if I blew it out of stubborn ways .

So on that note let's get back to the '32 Tudor build Erika of course gets the whole back of the car so for upholstery came up with this idea it's glittery as she likes and her eyes are green and she born raised and lives in Gardena and she is quite the girlie this the pink . Course this is wild but so is most of the build . Just haven't figured how it's going to fit with a Cornflour Blue/Midnite Blue flamed Tudor maybe double tint the rear windows . I was surprised thought I'd experiment on her birthday gift it's tomorrow . It's a HW transporter/car set I usually get her a German car HW not this year I got her the HW Demon issue only like 8400 made of correct it's a purple '69 Dodge Daytona and a Dodge 800 Roll-off Transporter . Got her a movie book too she really into classic movies and knows alot about them .

Greatest news ! The Welding School is a GO ! And am teaching the shop side of the class starting Monday ! We have put alot of work and patience waiting for clearance by schools we have offered this service to so we are starting with SMAW and GMAW ( MIG ) . 12 students is a good start and I understand all have not been in a shop environment so Safety First ! and lots of it lol
Thank you for your time in this post it may be awhile till I am here again as class is 6-9 weeks .
Everyone take care and try to get something done and posted in a couple weeks when Dick is available for the crankshaft he wants it first and it's ready so take care enjoy and visit someone for Thanksgiving !
