It started to get a little cool yesterday when I applied some body filler to the front of my car. I have had filler problems before when the weathers cool. My question is I have a light sticky film on the top of my body filler. I can sand it off and it seems cured underneath but gunk’s up the sand paper really bad. Should I strip of this filler completely or try a heat gun or something? I'm using Evercoats lightweight filler.

Who knows how long this stuff was on the shelf but I bought it a couple of weeks ago. It was the last little bit on the bottom of the can. The rest of the quart dryed fine.

try using a tad more hardener or if it still wont cure fully its really no big deal ive had this happen before and i did just as you sand off the top layer and work the rest. i usually go with a da for quickness im impatient.

There is a number on the bottom of the can that will tell you the date. The first number is the year and the next two are the month it was manufactured. Did you mix it up before you used it? If you don't the resin will rise to the top and will require more hardner for it to cure. I would guess if it is not old that this is what happened. A 2 inch puddle of filler should require a ribbon of hardner about half way across the filler, 4 inch puddle all the way across and an 8" pudle all the way and then half way again. Hope this helps.
